Here is the first cover that he(Russ Heath) did for Atlas' line of War comics (not my scan):

I love those Atlas Korean war covers, even the ones not done by Heath.

This 1960 paperback has been on my search list for a good while now.

It does have its attractions.

Continuing to cherry pick certain monster mags for my collection. This FM Yearbook easily made my cut.

#6303
Did not snag this lot of mags that started in the 90's (#'s 2-9) for my collection, but rather purely for the reading. They came recommended to me by a fellow monster fan (raises mug of coffee while I type to Mike Scott's avatar) due to their articles.  My local comic shop had this pile and was nice enough to let me have 'em for cover price. If you have a #1 you are itching to trade, drop me a line.  Looks like their run ended with issue #34.

That's a great looking copy! Love that Vic Prezio cover! Do you know the story behind it?

Those look brand new and you got them (#s 2-9)  for cover price!  What a deal!!  Hope you enjoy them!  #1 is gonna cost ya. I see people asking $300. I think $200 would be a steal! The last issue (#34) still hasn't been published.

It was a Mr. Hyde makeup that Dick Smith did for his Warren one-shot "Do-It-Yourself Monster Make-Up Hand Book".

Here is Smith's makeup.

Wow!  At that price I would have to pass, though it would be great to read.  If I were to put 300 bones toward a magazine...actually, there isn't one I would at this point in life (I used to collect comics and had close to 4000 with it being mostly silver age and some sweet golden age stuff, so $300 was still steep in my world, bt I get that type of price.) . I know there are plenty worth more than that, but there are a number of factors preventing me.
1. Most of the ones I want are ones I remember seeing the covers from my childhood or in the back of mags I had as back issues for sale and just wishing.  Since I am not trying to complete a run and am collecting casually, I do not worry about the ones that are out of range.
2. My wife and I used to buy Disney items for that price.  Now we use the money, when we have it, to purchase experiences with our kiddos like heading to Disneyland or baseball parks we have yet to visit.  Just where we are.  We still have all our stuff, and fortunately have the space to display it.  However, there are some things I am getting ready to part with from my small monster collection that may help fund our next adventure.

Now THAT is one I would take home and spend a bit more on!

As good as MFTV is, there's not $300 worth of reading in any of them.  ;D  #1 had a very low print run (300?) and there are more collectors than that number who want one. If I hadn't bought one early on, I wouldn't have one.

Back cover.  Pretty confident about the directions inside, I would say ;D:

You could always pick up the book version of this magazine -

You can get the Warren mag for half that. You can probably get one of the later reprint books cheaper, too. Check abebooks.com

And rightfully so!

Smith did a brilliant job there; he doesn't talk down to his audience, and he doesn't hide his tricks.

Many of those of us who have done makeup in later life, owe a great deal to that mag.
