JENKIES!

At first I just glanced at the auction page and thought that was some dreamy Buy It Now price... went back and saw those are LEGIT BIDS! Holy guacamole... good for you dude.  And you still have almost a week left - I'll be watching this with a bag of popcorn.
Stay sick. Turn blue. Drop dead.

I'd like to know who's laying out that kind of cash for that!

I doubt we will ever find out, but obviously at least two people consider it to be worth $10,000 to get the bid that high. Must be a Grail item that someone refuses to lose. I will have to go back and see is Kirk had one of these in his display at the Airport or in his book Too Much Horror Business.

::EDIT:: Looking at the bids, there are 5 people that consider it to be worth over $7,000. I fully expect another one to pop upon ebay now.

That's what I was thinking. A loose one, maybe.

Happy to do that right now.  Found it last Saturday at a community garage sale at a fairground.  This huge sale is twice a year, about 30 minutes away from me.  I try to make the trip every time.  I found a booth with two little old ladies that had a TON of 1980's Strawberry Shortcake figures still on the cards - 30+ of them.  Very colorful booth.  That's what got me over there initially.  Then these three figures were there on the table alongside all the smelly strawberry shortcakes - 2 Star Raiders and the Dracula.  Made a package deal for everything (carded) they had (Strawberry Shortcakes, the Tomlands, and a few other random toys and cool things).   What I know about these toys from the ladies is that they all were their mother's and she had passed away a few years back.  They had been in storage ever since and they were looking to get rid of them.

I search out toys, games, nerdy geeky type stuff at various events and sales, that's my niche, but had never even heard of Tomland before.  I just try to find new, still sealed, or vintage older items to turn a profit.  I'm an 80's / 90's kids, so I usually focus on what I know - TMNT, Power Rangers, Pokemon, etc.  Love the hunt.  So I had no idea what I was in for lol.   Took me until Wednesday I think it was to list the Tomland figures - I did the Star Raiders first, then went to Dracula.   Made up some insane-to-me starting price (400 bucks), thinking it would end in 10 days and I'd have to relist it at a cheaper price.. but within a half an hour it was past 2500.  Had a heart attack, thought I was being punked.  I had messages from about 10 people within the first 5 hours saying to name a price - I just couldn't, I didn't know one!   It was only after all the initial commotion that I started digging deeper, joining some forums and looking at websites to talk to people.  It's been a real education for me on these Tomland / Mega / Monster figures in general - which will definitely help me going forward too.   As a collector myself (LOTR figurines, swords and shields), and now knowing how apparently rare the Dracula is, I'm just so thrilled that I'm the one responsible for resurfacing a previously unseen toy into the world, and that a collector is going to cherish this.

It's been really fun monitoring the threads and posts that other people have done for this figure's ebay listing.  Love reading the comments sections.  A bunch of level-headed people talking about it vs. what I'm used to reading -  the comments sections on say a CNN post on facebook that make me want to stab my eyeballs out.

This is a great background story of where this came from and shows that there are still things out there waiting to be discovered.

Fun looking figure and packaging and nice to see something other than a Star Wars Uzay bootleg getting this much attention, really does make a change for me and does make me wonder how many there are of these figures still left sealed in the world.

Best of luck with the end price and some interesting viewing for us all  :D

The top bidder has bid over himself - as a "safety bid".  Odd that he isn't using a bidding service.  (And I'd like to see some pictures of his collection!)

Can't wait to see what comes in from the bidding services in the last few seconds of the auction.

And I'd like to see some pictures of his collection!

No doubt! If he's willing to spend that kind of money on a Tomland, what doesn't he have!

Nice story and congrats.
I thought I did well with a TMNT #1 first print for fifty cents, but I think it doesn't come even close.  I'm not going to lie I bid on this for awhile, but now regrettably if I want to keep my marriage I won't be winning this.  Excited to watch what it does finally end up for
May you find your worth in the waking world

To the OP: I see you mention you collect 80's/90's toys I'm only curious as to what you have your eyes on now with the unexpected bankroll.  Please don't say your going to adult and pay some bills or take the family on vacation

Improve a tattoo, get some new sunglasses, consider getting a new sword, something for the wife.. and then the adult stuff of investing.  : )
