Picked up a couple of monster vending machine items that arrived today.

I bought the nickel ring display mainly for the monster flicker ring in the lower left corner. I have the UniMon Vari-Vues and the Don Post Mask Flicker Rings, but I didn't have one like this. It flickers between a green Frankenstein Monster face and a red vampire face. It also has a Tarzan flicker ring and a cool jewel eyed skull ring at the top (I still have a similar skull ring from kidhood in my display). The rest of the rings are non-monstery but I love the '60s vending items so I think the package is neat. I got lucky at auction and snared it for a little over 15 bucks.

The Casper And The Monsters ad piece is for the Vari-Vue Universal Monsters Flicker Rings and I've been waiting for a good deal in one for awhile. It's not even a card, just glossy paper. It was actually used and it has two neat staple holes where it was stapled to a backing card at some point. As mentioned I have the 6 UniMon Vari-Vue rings, but I haven't bothered to seek out a Casper yet. Now that I have the display piece I probably will be hunting a Vari-Vue Casper Ring. I've always liked Harvey Comics and the character of Casper is alright, but I wish Vari-Vue hadn't tied it directly to the UniMons. Anyway, I scored this display piece with 4 others that aren't monster related for less than $20 shipped. Looks pretty good in the display.  :)

I always liked those Vari-Vue rings when I was a kid. Those are nice illustrations of the Monsters on the Casper/Uni Mon card. I also liked those skull rings with the jeweled eyes. I was unaware that they made Don Post Flicker rings. Do you have any pics of those?

Should be some in "Media". They use the calendar pics.

I looked but didn't see them. I might have missed them.

It's hard to get good pics of flicker rings. Anyway, there are two masks on each ring and it "flickers" back and forth between them.

The Creature image is visible in the lower right of this pic of some of my Creature items.

I agree! I love any vending machine cards/items from the fifties to the seventies. Penny vending machines were a big part of my life from the late fifties to the mid sixties and they just scream baby boomer goodness to me now.

The set actually includes two different Casper rings!

We think alike, Hep!

Yeah, I'll probably try to get both Casper rings when opportunities present themselves. Since I'm a cheap bastard I'll wait for a good deal till Heck freezes over (or Hell, even).  >:D

Here's a pic that Monolith posted back in 2012 showing the DP Creature Ring image pretty well.

It's my favorite of the three (Creech always rules!  ;)).

Thanks, Fm.

Yeah, the Creature is my favorite monster and CFTBL is my favorite film. Almost everyone likes Creech, 'cept maybe that Mike Scott guy.
