This now defunct Department store was super cool and fun to go shopping. Circa-1973-1982.

Down in Uvalde, Texas (west of San Antonio), there was a Rexall pharmacy with a counter, great burgers, and the only time I've ever had phosphates to drink.

But alas, my Google search shows that it's been closed in the last couple of years, with photos only from 2012 and 2014.  Uvalde became too popular and ended up with larger chain pharmacies.   The old Rexall pharmacists couldn't keep trained staff due to higher wages elsewhere, and it was difficult and expensive for them to hire Temp Pharmacists for much needed vacations.  The two main pharmacists worked 4-5-6 years' straight.  They eventually closed up shop when, as an independent, the big pharma distributors were cutting all the deals with competitors but sticking it to the indies.

Borroum's Drug Store in Corinth, Mississippi with its operating soda fountain:

Borroum's was evidently opened in 1865 by former Confederate Army surgeon A.J. Borroum and moved to its current location in 1873.

Not for the faint of heart, but we can't possibly have any of those on UMA. All aboard!
