Ah, Charleston Chews!! LOVED those things (except the vanilla, the chocolate and strawberry rocked!). My brother got busted stealing one from Mayo's Drug Store back in the 70s. It was in the same plaza as my dad's barber shop.

When my dad found out from Mr Mayo, my brother went down to the drug store every day for a month after school and swept out the store and did whatever Mr Mayo wanted done. Stuff got handled like that back then. No cops, no slap on the wrist, no "just forget about it, no big deal", no worries about damaging the psyche of the thief. You got taught a lesson, on top of the ass-whipping.

Yes, and no need for expensive psychological counselling to help him cope with that damage to his psyche.  Other kids would I'm sure have provided that for free.

A good ass-whipping and some hard work are all the therapy 99% of people need. I exempt myself, of course............for obvious reasons.
