"FINAL WEEK".

House of Wax - Globe - Stockton-On-Tees, England - 1953.

("3 Dimensions".  If you compare to the size of the people in the street, that's a pretty big poster.)

It's not the 24 sheet.

Cobra Woman  &  White Savage - Helena, Montana - May 4, 1950.

("Cobra Woman" was released in 1944 and "White Savage" was released in 1943. On this day in 1950, the Budweiser Clydesdales were being displayed on Main Street.  Not sure why that is, the calendar does not indicate a holiday.)

Here is an interesting postcard photo of the interior of the Antlers Theatre circa 1920:

Something tells me they watched a lot more westerns than horror/sci-fi movies in this town.

This is an interesting moment in time:

Tarantula - Rialto - Louisville, Kentucky - December 8, 1955.

Louisville, Kentucky was a big tobacco town in 1955.  Phillip Morris was a huge employer.  They decided to throw a bash for their employees at the very plush Rialto Theatre.  Note the headliners were "The Hank Snow All Star Jamboree featuring The Duke of Paducha".  Also featuring "Elvis Presley with Bill and Scotty and Don".

Elvis Presley would not record "Hound Dog" until July of 1956.  After that, he was a one-named performer who took 2nd bill to no one.

Here is a shot of the live show that night:

On stage are Scotty Moore, Elvis, Bill Black and D.J. (Dominic) Fontana - billed as "Don".

Don't know who "Don" is? That's Scotty Moore on guitar, Bill Black on base and D. J. (Dominic) Fontana on drums. Maybe Fontana went by the name "Don", for a while?

Yes.  D.J. was going by the nickname "Don" and that's how he was billed that night.

I think I will go back and put in their full names - for clarity.

Maybe he didn't want to sound so "Italian"?

He was playing for a basically country crowd.  Every time he told them his name was "Dom", they probably repeated back "Don"?

This is a good-looking old theatre:

Return of the Fly  &  Alligator People, The - Palms - West Palm Beach, Florida - 1959.

(I would definitely have wanted to escape the Florida summer heat by spending all afternoon taking in this double feature.)
