Mezco Toys!  HorrorHound#13 mentions that Mezco plan on releasing a 12" figure of the Wolfman (and possibly other collectibles) from the upcoming remake.  I thought for sure that Sideshow would end up with this license!??!

From ActionFigs.com, "One figure we could not see, as Mezco had to leave it covered throughout the duration of the convention (San Diego ComicCon), was the 12-inch Deluxe Figure of The Wolfman, from Universal's upcoming movie. This figure is due out in 2009, and probably won't sport a smashing red velvet curtain when it arrives."

And here is a link to Mezco's message board where someone posted a pic of Rick Baker pointing to the red velvet covered figure-

Awesome news, since they do a great combination of sculpt and pricepoint.

Licenses are granted for specific products, so I'm sure we'll still see uber expensiver "collectable" statues from sideshow, as well as a premium format figure n such.

If the 12" figure does well, mezco will most likely do a 18" version of it as well.

My choices for this would be neca or mezco, so this is great news.

Probably was a huge cash flow stretch for Mezco though, so if the movie bombs, this could kill them as well.

I hope Don Post gets the license for Masks.  Lord knows what Rubies or Bump in the night would do with it.

Morning, noon, or night, Anytime . . . . the count may strike. If you're caught you have to linger, Cause Dracula may bite your finger!

I'll be happy with any licenses as long as they pay attention to getting likenesses right.  And keeping the merchandice in my price range.

Great news!

I'm sure Mezco will do an outstanding job of it.
Wow...just looking at that HUGE new Jason (from the new Friday flick) is cool.
Derek Mears is a BIG boy, and the lifts and pads etc...make him monsterous.
Rest in Peace,

I'm sure sideshow will carry hot toys imports for the uber expensive good stuff.

MadCow

Sideshow can still have licensing rights but for different products, they did the same for Hellboy 1 and 2. Mezco will make the figures while SSC would make the higher end collectibles. And you never know, a quality company like Medicom or hopefully Hot Toys could get the 12" license for overseas (which SSC imports anyways) and then we'll have some REAL quality stuff...

I for one am not crazy about Mezco with the license. Their products IMHO have really gone down hill in the last year or two. They have put out some of the best quality figures in the past (Hellboy Comic, Hellboy Movie 1, Family Guy, South Park) but the stuff now is ok at best. I will give them credit with the New Line Horror stuff, they've done a good job with selection but everything still has that "stylized" look. I don't mind that if it's what you're intending to do (i.e. deformed style figures). But when you're going for a quality likeness and it's still looking like sillyness, that's just a huge turnoff for me...

Hey, hey I see Nick the Monster made his way here!  Mezco did a really cool Jason figure my kid just got.  if they can make the Wolfman look that good, the figures will rock. Lets hope the movie does.

GAKENSTEIN

I hope they do some classic Chaney Wolfman figs. to go along with the new merchandise.  And may they fare better than the ill-fated (though thoroughly awesome) Jakks Pacific classic figures released in coincidence with the Van Helsing stuff.

Wolf Man

I don't care about prices, I am on the hunt for any and all merchandising for this film.  We have waited a very long time to see this remake done right.  I think it is safe to say with the caliber of quality people on board for this project that this will be one awesome film.

I am anxiously awaiting the cane.  I have a copy of the original Lawrence Talbot cane and sincerely hope they either remake the cane even more awesome than the original or at the very least remake the original cane but perhaps with a better sculpt.  I have an extensive wolf cane collection including a real silver one so I am as eager as can be for this one.

Hey Wolf Man, how about some photos of your cane collection? Sounds impressive!

Great idea, I have a photo of my silver Dark Shadows wolf cane and will try and get it put on here.  Let me see what else I can find in my archives.  I can also get my wife to photo graph the rest of my canes.  Many of them are sword canes with extremely sharp blades, not the cheap junk usually found.  I have an inside advantage however, since I am a blade dealer and also designer of edged weapons. This gives me access to all the best canes made.  I will get to work on this.

Here is a photo of me sporting my silver skull cane and another photo of my new Dark Shadows silver cane.  This silver skull head cane is a sword cane and has an awesome blade, it is a triangular cross section for punching holes in the target, definately one of my favorites.  It is made by Paul Chen, a famous Katana sword maker.  I have another cane made by him as well that has a different kind of sword blade with more of a traditional flat blade with sharp edges.  I love the blade on that one but it has a dog head and the shaft is red, not my favorite.  I may stain it black eventually.  If the shaft is black then the dog head won't bother me as much, at least it is an antique finish.

Another photo of me sporting the Wolf Man cane at a Halloween Part in a 1930's hotel.  Unforunately these were the only photos I could muster on short notice.  I will see if my wife can take some other close ups of the canes so you will be able to see all the wolf variations and the other canes I have.
