I just got this guy in the mail today from Mondo! This print was done in connection to a film festival they did in Austin, TX at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema where they ran 35mm prints of classic films over the course of a few weeks. They ran some pretty cool films (including Kong, The Unholy 3, and The Old Dark House!) and did limited edition prints for all of them. This is one of their Kong prints that I managed to get my hands on! I really love the style and the colors in it! It's a 24"x36" screen print.

They sold out of just about every print they released, but I think they still have some Unholy 3 ones available on their website.

I immediately thought of Scatter and Unknown Primate as I was opening the cardboard tube!  :)

Out of curiosity, how much was this print?

It sold new from Mondo's website for $60. There was a variant that was a close up of Kong's face looking in through a window that went for $120. I actually didn't like it as much as this one. Don't get me wrong, it was a gorgeous print too, but for less money and a nicer design I had to go with this one. There are some of these up on eBay at the moment. They also released a Creature From The Black Lagoon print at Comic -Con that I really really really want to get my hands on! I'm gonna have to go the eBay route for that one though I fear!

That's actually a REALLY good price imo. I see a lot of basic re-prints of posters go for $30, so that much for such a beautiful, limited print is really good.

Mondo's work is incredible. I am a BIG fan of their work both as an artist and as a collector. Their screen prints are incredible and have a really nice heavy duty feel to them and have a certain quality that, as soon as you look at it, you can tell its a Mondo print! I have a few of their pieces. I have their print for The Mummy (the Karloff version), The Invisible Man, Lucio Fulci's Zombie, all 5 Planet of the Apes films, The Raven, and Drive (not a horror or sci-fi piece, but still one of my favorite films!). The biggest problem with Mondo prints, is getting your hands on them. They put them on sale at a random time during the day, and it's first come first serve, and some of them sell out in a matter of minutes. If you aren't sitting there with one hand on the mouse and the other with your credit card in it, you aint gettin one! I missed out on several of their prints including their Dracula print and their Iron Giant print (both of which are beautiful!). You gotta love a company that all they do is produce beautiful, original, licensed art prints from a HUGE variety of artists and all of them are based on classic films from the early days of cinema up through current films (they just had a Dark Knight Rises print up the other day).

It would be cool if they would alert you of when they go on sale. I'd love to own a piece from one of the films you listed. I looked at their website, and though nothing they have interests me right now, the artwork is very good and the prices are reasonable.
