THE BLOB (1958)

I remember seeing it in the theater in 1958.  When the on screen Blob squeezed through the windows in the projection booth, many in the audience (including me) turned around to look at the brightly lit windows behind us.  Creepy.

I guess that seems silly to people today; but that's how we reacted 63 years ago.

That's awesome. During BLOB-FEST at the Colonial Theater, I and others would do that in fun but but there was always that slight hope of seeing something up there. My kids (grown kids now) had been making BLOB-FEST a summer tradition until the pandemic last year.  Been going since around '03 or '04. Really miss it. Last year it was just a virtual event and will be again this July.  Hopefully next year it will return in full.

It's a classic film with heart and the effects hold up really well. This was my first time seeing it in HD on HBO-MAX and it looked amazing. I already had the Criterion DVD, but think I will upgrade to their Blu-ray.

It opened in September, 1958.

My little theatre played it in October as a special Halloween offering.  I will always associate it with Halloween just as much as I do the "War of the Worlds" radio show - which I heard later, when I got into classic radio.

I hope I never get Alzheimer's.  I treasure my memories of '50's sci-fi kiddie matinee shows almost every weekend.

It was around 1963 for me going to Saturday Matinee double features. Lots of great memories I agree.
