The Deadly Bees (1966)

The Wolfman Never Sleeps (1972) (aka The Fury Of The Wolfman)

La Noche De Walpurgis (1971) (aka Werewolf Shadow)

The Werewolf Vs. The Vampire Woman is the edited U.S. cut, which is PD. While still fun, the uncut Spanish version is the real classic. The English dub results in alterations ranging from awkward to downright silly. Watch the original Spanish version if you want to see the movie that made Paul Naschy an international star.

WEREWOLF SHADOW(the original name for Werewolf vs Vampire Woman) is a Eurohorror classic! Always worth seeking out, DEADLY BEES would be lacklustre if werent for the sexy Suzanna Leigh. FURY OF THE WOLFMAN is a bizarre mess, even when cleaned up on the new blu ray version. The script is almost incomprehensible at times and throws everything from mention of Yetis, a female werewolf and a Phantom Of the Opera clone into the mix! It's said that the director(who was constantly drunk according to Naschy) let his teen son take over during the production of this film and it certainly shows.

We're on the same page, Memph.

The Deadly Bees is okay, but it would have been better with Cushing and Lee in the male lead roles. Of course, those guys always elevated everything they were in. Yep, Suzanna Leigh was pleasant eye-candy in the flick. She also looked good in Lust For A Vampire a few years later (as Janet Playfair) but the other females were outshined by Yutte Stensgaard in that one.

The Fury Of The Wolfman is simultaneously hilariously inept and seriously disappointing considering what it could have been. Director Zabalza stayed drunk, as you say, and had his 14 year old nephew changing the script on the fly several times during the shoot. It does give us a psychotronic cinematic train-wreck that can be marveled at from now on, but I'm sure Naschy would have preferred a competent job resulting in a good monster movie.

Werewolf Shadow is THE Naschy film for me, and I never get tired of it. Then you have the heavily cut U.S. version The Werewolf Vs. The Vampire Woman with it's silly English dub and PG (then GP) chop job. It's still fun to watch, but it's a far cry from the uncut original with the proper Spanish language sound track. It's amazing with the great number of Naschy Blu-rays from the last few years we didn't get a great BD release of La Noche De Walpurgis. Another one conspicuous by it's absence is Curse Of The Devil.

Lol, actually that's about a month's worth - but we did get a good amount of snow.  I retired last March, so I'm able to watch a lot more films and shows that I love.

Spider Baby (1967)

Classic '60s Monster Kid fare. Still fun after all these years.

The Rape Of The Vampire (1968)

This is Jean Rollin's first vampire flick. Low budget and arty, it's still compelling and fun to watch. A lot of Rollin's appeal was due to the frequent nudity and comely females but there is an interesting beauty to his work beyond the exploitation elements.
