The Wasp Woman, 1959 - After experiencing some success in youth-restoring serum derived from bee royal Jelly, a scientist decides to try to up the effect by using royal jelly from the more aggressive wasp.  As you might expect, it has some side effects.

Susan Cabot, Anthony Eisley, Barboura Morris, William Roerick, Michael Mark and Roger Corman.

Pretty standard tale of mixing human traits with those of another species - with the usual results.

Scream Factory's Blu-Ray has a crisp, clear image and lovely hiss-free sound.  It also contains two versions of the film, the theatrical cut and the longer TV edit.

Better yet, it also contains two full-length commentaries.  Both are great, but the better of the two is by Tom Weaver and Dr. Robert Kiss.  It was fun finding out about the history of the story and film, but it was terrific learning so much about the people who made it.  Tragically, many of the actors had short lives and unhappy endings.

What could have played like an episode of Science Fiction Theater or The Outer Limits, made for a really fun '50's sci-fi movie.
