Geezer. Did you like the film Hellfest?

Forgive me, Geezer.  I've been meaning to address this one for a long time, anyway...

Hell Fest, 2018 - Hell Fest is a traveling "Horror Nights"-type carnival with a twist.  Six young adults must sign an additional release form before entering the no-man's land inner circle of the attraction - this allows the employees within to actually touch the customers.  But, if you don't go through the inner circle, you can't reach "Hell", the fun house ride that is the heart of Hell Fest.

I don't remember any of the actors' names.  Probably wouldn't matter, I never heard of any of them before.

Hell Fest is a slasher film with not all that much blood and no nudity.  The characters are of the sort that keep the viewer hoping one or another gets it first - instead of pulling for their survival.  The scares, what there are, are mostly of the big jump/blaring music sort.

I'm always left wondering why no one ever notices the blood puddles, who cleans up so thoroughly that no one gets curious and how the killer always manages to select victims that will never be missed.

One thing did bug me: the girls in the beginning of the movie spoke in modern slang with deliveries that made it hard for me understand the dialog.  I actually watched first 2 or 3 segments with the sub-titles on.  After that, the language got a lot more straightforward and direct.  I would like to have seen a long, overlooking establishing shot of the attraction, but I guess the budget didn't allow for that.  Did have an interesting little tag at the end.

For me, just OK time waster that will probably never be high on my re-watch list.

Stay away from "Blood Fest". It's almost the exact same concept.

The new Pet Semetary. Saw it at the cinema and despite wanting to enjoy it found myself looking forward to the end.  Seemed like 'Pet Semetary by numbers' with each plot point ticked off without any real character development or tension.
The Zelda character wasn't nearly as scary as the original and leaving out Timmy Bateman was a missed opportunity imo. They could have made him more like the malignant and lucid demon character from the book rather than the Romero zombie version from the '89 version. (The makers obviously wanted to switch/change parts of the story to set it apart from the original, so making some elements more true to the book would have achieved this and pleased the fans of the book). I usually like my horror films reasonably short but this could have done with an extra half hour of running time.

Thanks, that's the vibe I get from the trailer. I'm just going to dig out my DVD and enjoy the original. Btw, LLK, have you seen "Us"  yet? Reviews were great, but I have seen little here about it. Anybody seen it? Worthwhile?

Not yet Mord, but I tried to convince my mate to see it instead of Pet Semetary! I've heard good things.

My girlfriend refuses. She tells me to go see it with a dead prostitute shackled  to me. I'm not sure what that means, but I don't think it's positive.

Ah, heck.  I was hoping to like it.  Mostly because I thought the male lead of the original was too soft and the woman who played his wife was so unsympathetic.
