Haven't seen the third but yeah I did like the other two. The only thing I liked about 'The First Purge' was the crazy, homicidal guy with the facial scars. I'd definitely give him a wide berth!

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1919) -

This being the 100th anniversary of this horror classic,  I gave it a spin. It does move slowly and feels dated. That said, some of the scenes are iconic in horror filmmaking.  Conrad Veidt is one great, classic monster. Check out how many scenes inspired similar ones in the '31 Frankenstein. Still lookin' good at 100!

Great film

The Silent Partner (1978)

Just watched it on an amazon rental. Just as good as I remembered! Great thriller! That sawing off the head scene still creeps me out!  :o

Dr. Acula

Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959) -- in color! No matter how bad the movie, I still enjoy watching Vampira and Tor Johnson stalk across the screen.

I bought the DVD when it came out. It's sort of a Christmas classic for me. It does hold up very well. Yes, the head sawing scene always got me too.

It's not that graphic, either. Like the PSYCHO shower scene, you think you saw more than you did.

Kinda nice seeing John Candy again (however briefly).

 The Leopard Man (1943) -
While this film isn't remembered as one of Lewton's best, it still has some powerful scenes. One that has always haunted me, is the part where the daughter comes back home from the store and is murdered before the mother can let her in. No graphic violence...just blood coming thru the bottom of the door and those horrifying screams. Brilliant!
