WB put out a DVD set of their old mystery/horror "B" movies a couple of years ago. Don't know why they left this one out?

THE MYSTERIOUS DOCTOR (1943) at Dailymotion

A mysterious stranger shows up in a small Cornwall village where the local tin mine is haunted by a ghost. When people start turning up dead, again, the ghost is blamed, initially.

With John Loder, Eleanor Parker, Lester Matthews (as the mysterious doc), Forrester Harvey ("The Invisible Man") and Matt Willis ("The Return of the Vampire").

I just watched this on TCM last month and found a quite effective little chiller.  :) The weird effects(especially the headless ghost) were well-done.
DARK SHADOWS:

David Collins: "Dead people dont just get up and walk around.."

Sarah Collins: "Sometimes they do."

Although not a Paramount(it's RKO), you should check out THE BRIGHTON STRANGLER(1945). This is another mystery/thriller that should be on dvd but isnt. John Loder is the lead in this one also.

Thanks to Memph for another not on DVD recommendation!

THE BRIGHTON STRANGLER (RKO 1945) at YouTube

Very entertaining thriller about an actor who is struck on the head and now thinks he is the character he was playing on stage, i.e. "The Brighton Strangler"! The usual RKO polish from all departments.

John Loder as the tragic victim of circumstance. June Duprez as his prey.
