Panic Beats (1983)

Good Paul Naschy film utilizing the character of Alaric de Marnac from Horror Rises From The Tomb. Hopefully Mondo Macabro will release this one on Blu-ray.

Blood And Sand (2005)

This is a great, albeit short, documentary on Spanish Horror films. It features interviews with Naschy, Ossorio, Larraz, Grau, and more. This will be an extra on the new Inquisition Blu-ray from Mondo Macabro.

The Uninvited, 1944 - I loved revisiting this atmospheric masterpiece with its wonderful, seemingly simple complexity.  The brooding cinematography and understated performances make it seem less like a movie of long ago and more like a documentary of real events.

I have the Criterion edition of "The Uninvited" and always follow it up with a viewing of the intelligent "photo essay" by Michael Amereydal done in 2013.  It is a heartfelt tribute to the movie and its stars and a fitting compliment to the film.

Who could remain untouched by the sad life and tragic death of Gail Russell at only 36?

(Does anyone else find themself absent-mindedly humming "Stella By Starlight" several times after watching this movie?)

The 7th Victim - excellent, creepy Val Lawton classic.

Tormented (1960)-Great, and an underrated film. Does anyone has the European cut of this film?
"They come from the bowels of hell; a transformed race of walking dead. Zombies, guided by a master plan for complete domination of the Earth."

DARK SHADOWS:

David Collins: "Dead people dont just get up and walk around.."

Sarah Collins: "Sometimes they do."

There's a European cut?

Endangered Species, 1982 - Local ranchers are up in arms over cattle mutilations that no one can explain.  Stars Robert Urich, JoBeth Williams and Paul Dooley.

Released at the same time as E.T., this little movie didn't do much business at the box office and has never had much promotion for the home audience.  I'd like to see it get a Blu-Ray release with a good commentary, putting the story and the history of the film in perspective.

The Thing, 1982 - Not a re-make of the 1951 film of the same name, closer to the original story, "Who Goes There?".

Released just 2 weeks after "E.T.", the movie put off many patrons at the time.  I clearly recall chattering audience members suddenly going quiet and putting down their popcorn during the first autopsy scene.

Holds up well.  I don't think this "Thing" seems dated even today.

You're absolutely right, Adam. Even the effects seem fresh. That's what usually ages a film like this.

Never heard of this. Any big differences between versions?

Strangler of the Swamp, 1946 - Ming the Merciless returns from the dead to strangle one-by-one the men who bore false witness against him and caused him to hang for murder.  There is only one way to break the dead man's curse.

Kinda atmospheric, as long as you can buy the idea that all the traveling back and forth on a small ferry is obviously being done on a dry stage floor obscured with fog.
