Alien Covenant  - Great fun throughout! This is easily the best Alien film since Aliens. See it on the big screen, folks. Good clean fun!

Freejack,, 1992 - Time travel movie with a plot too similar to 1989's "Millennium" for my comfort.  Hadn't seen this one in a very long time.  Really interesting to see how underwhelming what must have been ambitious special effects for the time seem just 25 years later.

I know that this is one of the first of the mutant bug movies to be rolled out, but which one was actually THE first?

By the way, when I saw this as a kid on the tube for the first time, it scared the heck out of me.

horrorhunter

The Virgin Of Nuremberg (1963) (aka Horror Castle)  7/10

Good atmospheric Eurohorror with Christopher Lee and beautiful Rossana Podesta.

The Grapes Of Death (1978)  6/10

A new vineyard pesticide causes a sickness which makes people homicidal maniacs and causes their flesh to rot...in other words, zombies. Pretty good.

The Lair Of The White Worm (1988)  5/10

Choppy and goofy. Ken Russell is obsessed with religion and phallic objects.
ALWAYS MONSTERING...

Memphremagog

Blood Thirst(1971)
Mothra(1961)
The Mysterians(1957)
DARK SHADOWS:

David Collins: "Dead people dont just get up and walk around.."

THEM! (1954) was the first to have a big bug as it's main story, but CAT WOMEN OF THE MOON (1953) had a scene with a big old cave dwelling spider in it.

Idaho Transfer, 1973 - Peter Fonda directed this time travel movie using all young non-actors and an apparent budget of what ever change he find in under his sofa cushions.  The resulting film is about what you would expect.  It is a talky movie with almost zero special effects.

Not only is there little explanatory dialog to orient the viewer, what is delivered is often the sort that talks around what is happening.  Be prepared to fill in the gaps yourself.

Released about 5 weeks after "Soylent Green", the movie attempts to end with a similar surprise twist.

I'm glad I saw it, but doubt I will ever watch it again.

GATTACA, 1997 - A story about a time, "in the not too distant future", when DNA manipulation means near-perfect citizens and life-long shunning of those deemed flawed.
