"Saturday the 14th" - 1981

Billed as a "comedy", this little stinker has a spooky inherited mansion, a Book of Evil, monsters and even death.

I consider this one of the all-time great wasted titles.  It sounds so clever, it is hard to imagine how bad the actual film is.  (It is on a level with 1963's "The Old Dark House" starring Tom Poston.)

I think someone should recycle the title with an entirely different script.  It would be a good theme for a writing contest.

Aspiring script writers: Win $100,000.00! Submit your script for a movie to be titled "Saturday the 14th".  Winner will receive $100,000.00 in cash, a Screen Writers' Guild Membership Card and studio consideration of his/her next script.
(Or some such nonsense.)

I remember renting this on VHS as a boy (I was born the year this was released!) But can't remember anything about the film apart from the catchy title. I'd forgotten all about this until you posted, I can remember the day I rented this I also rented out 'Class of 1999' (with Pam Grier), a fun little movie in it's day.

"Magnetic Monster" isn't much of a movie, but I applaud the effort to make a sci-fi film with a different approach from all the others.  The Blu-Ray is beautifully clear and sharp.  Even the stock footage from "Gold" looks good in this one.
