We've finished a Boys Time viewing of three '80s classics: THE HIDDEN (1987, Kyle McLachlan, Michael Nouri), about two aliens occupying host-bodies on a tour of either I-5 or PCH...

THEY LIVE (1988, Roddy Piper, Keith David, Meg PaleEyes Foster), about aliens occupying advertising gimmicks on a tour of I-5 or PCH...

MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE (1986, Emelio Estevez, Laura Harrington, Pat MrDiner Hingle) about aliens inhabiting All Things Mechanical on a tour of - gosh - I don't know where - off I-95 into North Carolina?  Killer Sodey Pop Machines... wow.  Ya just don't hear 'bout that ever'day, do ya?  And I may never trust another riding lawnmower.

(Does anyone know if Yeardley Smith won that year's award for most annoying non-stop screamer?  She's still winning it, as far as I'm concerned.)

Female Vampire (1975)

Another Franco outing starring Lina Romay, Jack Taylor, and Franco himself. This style of storytelling reminds me of Jean Rollin's technique which uses vagueness, subtlety, and suggestion instead of relying on special effects. I like this style. Much of it was probably due to budgetary constraints, but it forces creativity. The tale has an otherworldly surreal quality which I enjoy. This may be Romay's finest hour, looking her best here and actually acting even though her character is mute. The film has LOTS of nudity and softcore sex so prudes should cover their eyes and run the other way. Very nice transfer on the Redemption BD which features the full cut of the film (minus the tiresome German hardcore insertions) and the shorter less erotic version called Erotikill.

ALWAYS MONSTERING...

This film is really cool.

The belt/cape/boots ensemble is my favorite vampire costume (only on Lina...it might look silly on Jack Palance or Frank Langella).

Yep. I'm a big Jack Taylor fan but we saw a little more of him than I wanted to. I'm just glad they didn't get even more graphic with him.  ;D

I don't have the X-Rated version with the German hardcore scenes, but I was basing my comments on what the Germans did to another Franco film, 99 Women. The hardcore scenes they added to that one were of terrible quality and didn't come close to looking like the original actors in the real movie. Porn wasn't rampant in the mid '70s like it is today, so some bad sex scenes sold a lot of tickets.

Dude, I've watched her shower/fight scene from "Ilsa, The Wicked Warden" more times than I care to admit. She is definitely one of my all-time favorite hotties.

Speaking of Dyanne Thorne, I met her once. A nice, classy Woman.
Not at all what her character portrayed in a four Ilsa films.

Yeah, you can tell by her commentaries on the "Ilsa" films. Though, I thought that Ilsa was a classy Nazi/sadist/warden/harem keeper.
