Unknown Primate

Over the holidays, my 17 year old great nephew stayed with my wife & I for six days.  I (at his request), bombarded him with some choice (and not so choice) flicks.  I must say, he is a rather unique youngster, in my opinion.  A great guitarist, A & B honor role, no drugs or drinking and eager to devour the "classics" in both music & film.  Here's the line-up...
Sunday -
MAY (2002) and THE INCREDIBLE TWO-HEADED TRANSPLANT (1971)...  He enjoyed both of them.

Monday -
FRANKENSTEIN ('31)    CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF ('61)    GOJIRA ('54)...  He was blown away by Karloff & Co. A BRAND NEW Universal fan!  He loved COTW, but fell asleep 3/4 the way into the Big G.

Tuesday -
MY BLOODY VALENTINE ('81) and THE WICKER MAN ('73)...  He loved the latter.

Wednesday -
HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER ('86) and THE HAUNTING ('63)...  "Henry" was intense and he thought "Haunting" was awesome and spooky.

Thursday -
THE DARK ('79)... He thought it was corny.  THE OMEN ('76)...  He loved it.  EATEN ALIVE ('77)...  He really enjoyed it's outrageousness.

All in all, he told me he was most impressed with FRANKENSTEIN and CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF,  so I guess I did my job!

You did an excellent job.  Now, start him on collecting monster stuff too.

Thank you Rob!  He DID show interest in seeing my collection, which, alas, is mostly in plastic tubs!

Again you mock me with your precious plastic tubs............how I long for the security and luxury of petroleum based, vacuum formed, lightweight and brightly colored containers. (sigh)
We're all here because we're not all there.

Scatter...  You are hilarious!  You have given me a much needed laugh, although I'm feeling kind of guilty, as it is at your expense.  I may have to get rid of one of them (the "tubs", that is), and when I do, I just might have to send it your way!

Think I'll go drag one out right now...  HAHAAHAHAHAHHHHHH!!

The Iron Giant (1999)

With the exception of the old Fleischer Superman cartoons, this is easily my favorite piece of animation....ever.  Great story and beautifully told.  Plus, you gotta give it up for our fellow monster/sci-fi fan Hogarth.

Totally agree! my brother and I are very big fans. We cry every time we watch it. His dream is to own the huge Iron Giant Robot but right now its out of the price range. I did find him a small figure, which made him pretty happy. In the summertime, during our outdoor movie nights, I try to play this one as often as I can because most kids have never seen it!

Just watched The Flesh Eaters.  I like the way the microbes flutter.  Didn't know until recently that it was written by the co-creator of Deadman.
They're going to make you one of them, my peacock!

Just finished Equinox for the umpteenth time.  I'll sit down and watch it every time.  Some of the best cheese factor ever!  I really think the Evil Dead movies (At least the first one) had to be influenced by Equinox.  The stop motion monsters are so much fun to watch!
