.................seemed to lack the fun and excitement of the first two Sam Rami pictures.

It also lacked any relationship between Aunt May and Peter, not only that but Peter was a complete ass to her.....That is not Peter Parker!!!  Also I thought they got the Spidey-sense of humor completely wrong, he came off more flippant/snarky than anything!  I fell asleep on this toward the end (missed the whole final battle) and I don't care to ever see what I missed!  Raimi's Spideys weren't perfect but they walked a good line between his vision, the comics and older cartoon incarnations of the character/world!!  This new Spider-Man.....I don't know what it is?!

"The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012)

Plot: IMDB
Peter Parker/Spider-Man finds a clue that might help him understand why his parents disappeared when he was young. His path puts him on a collision course with Dr. Curt Connors, his father's former partner.

Phantom's Review: I personally found "Amazing" to be ...adequate. Not a bad film by any means. Good FX (if you don't mind a ton of CGI) good cast , story but the film seemed to lack the fun and excitement of the first two Sam Rami pictures. I really didn't see the point of retelling the origin over again. It made the first half hour of the film drag. But my biggest complaint with this film (as well as many other super hero movies) WHY THE HELL DO THEY KEEP TAKING OFF THE MASK!
Most of the film , he was walking around in his Spidey suit with no mask on. Do the producers feel the audience is so stupid that we would forget what the actor looked liked? It was an Okay film, I just hope the sequel is better.

I have yet to see the "new" SpiderMan movie, but I have to agree that it was quite unnecessary to redo the origin. Raimi's films are going to be extremely difficult to top and I can't see the point of remaking a picture that is less than ten years old. We get the point- radioactive spider nips young student. The story should be continued from when Harry was killed. Just pick up the story and move on...
As far as the mask thing, I think that, at least in most of the comic icon films, is that the director wants to show a human side of the character and I agree with your assessment that this, to, just isn't necessary.
I'll watch it in time, but I am not overly excited about it and to be honest, I'm not expecting much. But I'll try to watch it with an open mind and go with it.

"The Howling" (1981) -- Always a treat to watch Bob Picardo's werewolf condom-bladders pulsate as Eddie Quist transforms, and see dear departed Elisabeth Brooks romp around as her sexy animal-magnetic self as Eddie's sister Marsha.

This was also handled horribly in Amazing Spider-Man, I think they left the writing duties on this up to a 10 year old!

!!ADDING A SPOILER ALERT!!

Unbelievable, even by movie standards, how this teenager sneaks into this research facility and is then shown a weapon of mass destruction like it is a new Blu-ray player?!?!
