You're welcome, buddy. How much did you hate "Mother"?

Mother. , I am pretty neutral as to an opinion of Mother. I watched the film, twice. Each time seeing things and foreshadowing I did not catch the first time viewing the film.
Sort of in comparsing to the film, Enemy.
"They come from the bowels of hell; a transformed race of walking dead. Zombies, guided by a master plan for complete domination of the Earth."

I liked it when I saw it in the theater. Haven't seen it since, I enjoyed it enough.  Weird and abstract works for me.

The Vampire (1957)

The Vampire's Coffin (1958)

It's amazing how much better the original Spanish language versions are than the dubbed English versions. Special effects are the weak point, but the acting, writing, and direction, is very good. And, these films are rich with Horror atmosphere. The Casanegra DVD double feature is recommended. It has excellent picture and sound quality and many special features, and includes the option to watch the films in the original Spanish language version with English subtitles. One really cool special feature is a photo essay covering the history of early Mexican Horror films. Casanegra DVDs are OOP but well worth seeking out, especially the one of The Black Pit Of Dr. M.

ALWAYS MONSTERING...

Two of the best Mexican horrors of the classic era! Love these! :)
DARK SHADOWS:

David Collins: "Dead people dont just get up and walk around.."

Sarah Collins: "Sometimes they do."

Love it! Mexican monster movies don't get enough love around here.

. Can't get enough "Hills..", huh? Great film. In the commentary, they mention that they used Apple Valley  for some of the shots. My parents lived there until their passing. Dreadful place, imo.

Dr. Acula

Finally picked up Mill Creek's "Horror Classics" 50-movie set and figured I'd try working my way through it from start to finish. So, last night was Disc 1, Side A: Carnival of Souls.

I had never seen this one before. I liked it! Very spooky!

 Land of the Dead -
Mucho zombie fun! Hey, am I the only one that finds the blonde baseball zombie hot? She is missing a third of her face, though. Also, the word, "walkers" is used to describe the zombies. Was that term used before this movie (2005)?

Monsters For Sale

The Circle, 2017 - A young woman goes to work for a cultish kind of mandatory Facebook organization where the members are no longer allowed to have secrets of any kind.  She is swept up in their philosophy and even becomes one of their more prominent leaders before becoming disenchanted with the reality of what they are doing.

This interesting story had great premise with tons of promise.  It just never really lives up to its own potential.

The movie left me wanting more.  More character reaction to revelations, more dramatic villain consternation over being exposed.  There is a tremendous lot going on here and no one seems all that concerned.

This is too good a story to end up like this.  This is a movie that should be remade/re-imagined by different screenwriters and a different director.
