Wolfman

Just got my copy today from Amazon. I won a b&w Wolfman print of Basil's recently on eBay, but was disappointed that it was not shown in the book. Wonder why they left that particular image out, it's so awesome. Oh well, still love the book though.

I'm trying to decide whether Ingrid should have been drawn with fang-like lower incisors as well.

I've seen several different pictures of the cover of this book but never noticed 'til now that there are two different covers?!

The Phantom is on the HC and the LAM is on the Trade Paperback.

Too much goodness for one book! The slipcase version came with 16 extra plates. Don't know what they were, though. Anybody?

That's correct. Here is a bigger picture of the hardcover:

Not if he was shooting for real life!!  She didn't have lower incisors in The House that Dripped Blood!

There is a whole lot of Gogos's images left outta that book. It doesn't cover all his work, more or less a nice body of his work; some of the more popular ones. He has a lot of work I wish existed in prints.

This book is amazing!!!  Gogos work has always been incredible but what a way to showcase it.   My favourite piece in the whole book which is hard to decide on is the Chaney Wolf Man on page 156.  The blues in the background with the blurred inset moon.  Gorgeous!!!  I've never seen the Wolf Man look so primal.

Have to say that Dracula shot that Kerry Gammill went with for the Bela Lugosi comic is possibly my next favourite.

Here are a couple of Basil Gogos' renderings of Christopher Lee as Dracula:

And here is one of Dracula's nemesis Van Helsing:

I place Gogos on the godly pedestal with Frank Frazetta *bow repeatedly*. My favorite Gogos is the Ingrid Pitt from Monsterscene. Now if he would have only done a Yutte Stensgaard from Lust For A Vampire....
ALWAYS MONSTERING...

One of the earliest cover illustrations that Basil Gogos did for Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine was of my buddy Gorgo:

My only "druther"--& it's minor--is I'd like to have seen his striking Regan/Exorcist portrait from Famous Monsters #111 included in the book. Otherwise, the book still remains a dream come true.
