Quote from: YoungestMonsterKid on January 07, 2016, 08:15:04 PMIt has Big Frankie and the Guillotine being sold along side many models including Frankenstein's Flivver (which can be seen on the shelf with the other pre-built models). It's right in front of the Hunchback box. And several boxes for the Flivver and Dracula's Dragster can be seen below and even more Flivver boxes above. The place is crammed with them.

Of course Big Frankie and the Guillotine were only sold in 1964. Plus there are several things here pointing to the 1964 customizing contest. So CASE CLOSED.

Which case is that?

???

Quote from: YoungestMonsterKid on January 07, 2016, 08:15:04 PMThere's also a poster in the back advertising the new Jekyll as Hyde kit and it shows Hunchback, Kong and Godzilla in the background along with the other older models.

Now that poster is indeed a pretty compelling piece of evidence that the King Kong and Godzilla kits pre-dated the Dr. Jekyll as Mr. Hyde kit.

Just the case of what year the hot rods came out in. Guess not a case so much as a confusion.

So Frankenstein stills has a nine vote bulge here over the Creature in the balloting. Me though I've never seen a Frankenstein kit as wild cool looking as any of these three Creature kits whose pictures Horrorhunter posted in another thread:

As cool as the Creature kit is, and it's definitely near the top of my Aurora list, there's something about Frankenstein walking on that tombstone base with his name on the tombstone that made it my favorite.

I posted the snake tongues to prove a point. The Creature kits were just attached to them.  ;)

Still, I'm glad you like them. I just grabbed them off the 'net.  :)

Quote from: marsattacks666 on April 11, 2016, 09:51:51 AMThe Creature-Aurora kits are so awesome.

That was easily my favourite as a kid, but the Phantom of the Opera kit has really grown on me lately.

The Frankenstein kit rates higher to most people because it's the most iconic one, and sentimentality- it was first. Being first gets more credit in nearly everything. The kit looks great, as well, but some of the other kits top it for me. I consider Creature the #1 Aurora kit. But, I'm sure there's some sentimentality involved in my top choice as well since I nearly always favor CFTBL regarding UniMons.

Hard to nail down exactly why we like certain things more than others, and there are probably a plethora of reasons for it...not the least of which is what we had fun with as kids- what we experienced first.

I agree. Sentimentality regarding what I liked and enjoyed as a kid is right up there with aesthetics when it comes to determining my preferences right today.

As far as quality/value per dollar was concerned, the last three releases of the original six - Creature, Mummy and Phantom - were far superior to Frankenstein which was the very first one released.

That Bride looks incredible! Makes me almost consider repainting mine (that is if it weren't the rare "Frightening Lightning" edition).

Hmmmmm. I see Wolf Man is now a poor #8 in the voting despite being one of the Original Six kits. Perhaps his standing would have been better if this kit bash by our own master modeller Jim Bertges had been the kit Aurora released:
