anybody a fan of daredevil evel knievel? I find him interesting and he's awesome too, I really like watching clips of his jumps

It would would have been cool to see him do his stunts in the mid-to-late '70s

I was definately an evel fan as a kid. The man was amazing, a true snowman!  and I wore out at least three stunt cycles! One of the best toys ever made!
Mirabile dictu,don't you agree?

I grew up watching him on TV.  I have many of the Ideal toys and the Marvel comic book.  After his passing I made a display of my collection in my local bank.

My father Frank raced motorcycles and we went to a race in NH when I was little.  I brought my Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle and played with it on the scuffle board.  That night the motorcycle racers were playing with my stunt cycle in the hotel and raced him up and down the hotel hallways.

You can find repros of the stunt cycle toy.

The 70's Evel Knievel movie was cool with George Hamilton.
I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

Evel Knievel was one of those icons of 1970s's pop culture that connected with kids of my generation.  As mentioned, he crossed over to Ideal toys and the promotional comic book.  Another person that I would group into this category would be Muhammad Ali.  I was never a sports person, but there was always something larger than life about Ali and Evel.  There was an Ali figure and he even fought Superman in the Treasury-sized comic.

I have in my video collection a number of documentaries about Evel and I also have the two movies plus the TNT TV movie along with the Bionic Woman episode he was in.

I have not seen the Evel Knievel TV pilot with Sam Elliott.  I have found little information about it.  All I've heard is it was bad.

I loved Evel Knievel.  I had the stunt cycle and his van.  That was easily one of the top toys of my childhood.  The thing that made Evel Knievel GREAT was that he WASN'T a very good motorcycle rider/ jumper.  He constantly had HORRIFIC crashes.  He was a TRUE daredevil because he WAS NOT properly set up to complete his jumps safely.  And yet he did them anyway.

His son, Robbie, is a BETTER rider and jumper than his dad----------------but he's NOTHING compared to him in the daredevil category because you KNOW Robbie is going to make the jump safely.  It's BORING.

The amount of detail Robbie's team paid to the bike and launch trajectory and launch speed and landing trajectory and distance needed for a safe stop------------------------these elements all seemed to be non-priorities for Evel.  Evel SEEMED to eyeball things, then impetuously attempt them.... like the crazy kid in the neighborhood who had a death wish and a BMX bike.

Evel was a GREAT daredevil BECAUSE he was BAD. 8)

Man, I was Evel obsessed in the 70s!! Just watched the George Hamilton (so bad it was good) biopic again for the 3rd or 4th time over the years. Had the stunt cycle as a kid, and in fact trying to find an affordable one for the shelves at Castle Scatter.

Sean, Evel wasn't so Bad he was GREAT............He was so BAD he became a LEGEND!!

Oh hell yeah!  Saw the film with Hamilton at a Drive-In Biker-thon in the 70's - Saw Robbie (live) jump at The HoosierDome in '87 - but Evel was the MAN!

Evel Knievel is the greatest. He was a true American Icon of the 1970s and an American rebel. I like the fact he got his nickname by his hometown cause he was constantly in jail or trouble with the law concerning his motorcycle antics.

Also, cool that his custom-built cane he had, was built with shots of Wild Turkey inside

Anybody here ever have the Mego Action Figure of Evel Knievel?  I think my younger brother had one, along with the motorcycle.

I bought a box if misc. toys at an auction......in it was an Evil K. doll and his cycle. Evil was (and still is) missing one hand. The bone-head thing is that I found this red platform thing in the box.......I believe it had a crank on it.......couldn't figure out what it was for and threw it away!  Yep, it was the wind-up launcher base for Evil. Still can't figure out what I was thinkin'.........Buddy
