Looks like this is the place for the Lone Ranger fans.....

Been one for as long as I can remember.....lost a lot of my collection during my youth to yard sales and goodwill....due to the lack of space....but I still have alot of it......DVDs.....comics...( great copies Hepcat...)  Posters....standees....records..autographs....photos....books....toys....etc...

I have even went as far as......

The Lone Ranger is definately a great show, and you sound like a major fan dude. And I agree, Hepcat has some far out comics of the Lone Ranger.

The Masked Man

Yeah.....I am a pretty big fan.....I heard a rebroadcast of the radio show on a local AM station in the early 70's and was hooked....

I got anything I could get my hands on.....sadly most younger people don't know ( or care ) about the "Daring and Resourceful Masked Rider of the Plains".....shame.......

I mean who can't like this story......

They should be showing stuff like TLR on TV today instead of the crap that's being shoved down our kids' throats at present. Too bad somebody with an ounce of ACTUAL love for these old shows doesn't start a network.

The Masked Man

Amen to that.....I'm not a huge fan of the Anti-Hero...

Kids need heroes to look up to on the tube and in real life.....

Clayton Moore embodied the stuff the Lone Ranger stands for....he always tried to be like the Ranger.....in values and how he acted around childern.....If you get a chance to read his book...." I was that Masked Man....." do it...it is a good read.....

Which means you must share my trepidation over how the new Lone Ranger movie will morph the classic story arc. I'm guessing that The Ranger beds some saloon hostess, reveals some deep dark and sordid tidbits from his past, and compromises his beliefs and character before the end credits roll. Call me a cynic.

BTW, I've meant to read Moore's book, but never have gotten around to it.

I agree Scatter-I hav the awfu feeling that this upcoming Ranger movie will make the 1981 movie look like a classic! I LOVE the originasl series-it used to be on in the afternoon after school with the George Reeves Superman series back in the 80s. The series was also recently shown afternoons on a mainly religious channel on cable-they showed the entire run even the season without Clayton Moore, which I had never seen before. They also showed my other favorite western TV show-the Rifleman.
Crazy am I? We'll see if I'm crazy or not!

Gotta be better than the '81 Lone Ranger movie!  They did Clayton Moore wrong during that period in time, and us Lone Ranger fans don't forgive that! Clayton Moore in sunglasses?! Makes me angry even today!
My prediction of what we'll see in this new movie has to include what I feel all films of this action/adventure genre unfortunately include.......the massive explosion, fight, or natural disaster that our hero just barely survives, over and over again. A real true Western is called for.......unfortunately I don't think Hollywood has it in them at the moment...Buddy

Just like they couldn't make a straightforward pirate movie out of "Pirates of the Caribbean," this won't be a straightforward Western. Yes, it'll have to have outrageous action scenes and unnecessary explosions, or the vast majority ADD cases out there will call it slow and boring. Look how they crapped-up "The Wild, Wild West"!

Odds are against the new movie.  But, I still have hope.  I thought the Saint remake with Val Kilmer was very good.

Well....they already sorta did that in the huge pile of pucky that was on the WB / CW channel awhile back....

Anybody remember this?

I would take the 81 movie anyday of the week before this thing.....and I hated that movie....

There will never be another Clayton Moore or Jay Silverheels.....

But I hope they try to keep true to the legend and not change it very much....it does not need to be changed.....

I understand that they have to keep it fresh for the audience today.....they are more who don't know about it than do.....we are on the short side of the stick in this.....I just hope they do the Lone Ranger justice....

>Anybody remember this?<

I remember the 1/4 of it I could make it through - though I wish I could forget it.

>There will never be another Clayton Moore or Jay Silverheels.....<

No disrespect to them, but speaking as an actor, I respectfully disagree there, TMM.

Rathbone and Bruce were followed just fine by Brett and Burke (and Hardwicke); George Reeves by Chris Reeve; Johnny Wiesmuller by Gordon Scott; Bela Lugosi by Chris Lee, etc.

Happy Thanksgiving,

I agree that they were followed by good or great actors but they had their own unique style that set them apart from what went before.  I can't say they were replaced.

Gods, I remember this pile of crap. One of the worst TV movies I have ever seen. An embarrassment to The Ranger and Tonto. I hope the new movie fairs better

Ah yessss...........The Masked Metrosexual.

"A fiery horse with the speed of light (held unjustly captive by oppressive humans), a cloud of dust (which is never allowed to cling to the billowy gabardine and raw silk of the Masked Metrosexual's ensemble) and a hearty Hi-Yo Platinum! The Masked Metrosexual! ... With his oppressed Native American casino owner companion Tonto, the fashionable and flamboyant masked rider of the plains led the fight for law, order, and equal access to hair care products in the early western United States! Nowhere in the pages of History (or Gentleman's Quarterly)can one find a greater champion of justice and/or Brazilian bikini waxing for men! Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear! From out of the past come the prancing hoofbeats of the great horse Platinum! The Masked Metrosexual sashays again!"

I missed it when it aired in 2003, and could have happily lived the rest of my life without knowing it even existed.
