Quote from: Tom_Hering on January 26, 2020, 03:50:16 PMThanks for posting pics of my models, Hepcat. It's a joy to know that others enjoy them. I'll be happy to answer any questions, including "Have you stopped beating your wife?"

Well then how and when are you going to get your wife to build more of the wild and wonderful styrene kits like the ones I've been posting?

Here's a great kit bash based on the Aurora Wolf Man by our own master modeller Jim Bertges:

That had to be a lot of work, changing the Wolfman to a riding pose!

Quote from: Jim Bertges on January 13, 2020, 02:36:09 PMThat's part of the joy of modeling, taking an existing kit and turning it into something that no one else has.

Indeed! And Tom did more than one.

Gold Key published 46 issues of Magnus, Robot Fighter 4000 A.D. between cover dates February 1963 and January 1977. Almost all featured beautiful painted covers by artists such as Russ Manning and George Wilson.

MPC re-issued the Superman kit in 1984 that Aurora had originally released twenty years earlier:

Tom Hering took an Aurora Comic Scenes Lone Ranger from 1974:

Added the cage from an Aurora Monster Scenes Hanging Cage kit:

And kit bashed the parts into an absolutely splendid model representation of Walt Disney's Scarecrow of Romney Marsh:

Tom completed the kit in January 2003 and wrote a feature article about building it for Amazing Figure Modeler issue #57 published in 2014:

Absolutely brilliant work! Everything from the base to the horse to the Scarecrow himself is completely perfect!
You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred.

Thanks guys! FYI, for anyone else who wants to tackle this subject, my AFM article contains the research (including graphics) I did on the Scarecrow's costume.

In 1973 Aurora issued a series of cheap snap-together Prehistoric Scenes kits:

Included was this Tar Pit Scene kit:

Alchemy Works released a Tar Pit Diorama in 2004(?) based on these Prehistoric Scenes kits. Here's the excellent build Mark McGovern did for Mark Blanchard owner of The Core comic shop in Cedar Falls, Iowa:

I've seen that Scarecrow on Cult's website and in the article.  That is one one of the coolest conversions I have ever seen and absolutely excellent building.  That show was my favorite Disney episode/s and still is a huge favorite of mine.  I did a resin kit of the Scarecrow myself which is larger but not dynamic or as cool as Tom's is.

I think I remember seeing that resin kit for sale some years back. Nicely done!

Good, clean builds. Worthy of appearing in a manufacturer's catalog.

Here are a couple of pictures of Freddie Poe's very nice Aurora Creature build-up:

Freddie had it autographed by Don Megowan who served as the Creature's stunt double for land scenes in the Creature Walks Among Us.
