Quoteand what is that Sci-Fi looking object between you two ?

THAT my friend is a Multi-action Space Refuel STation in Orbital Flight with Jet Plane and Rocket! Very cool Japanese tin battery op. with Stop-and-go action with self-lifter. All sorts of lights light up, the radar dish spins madly, it moves forward afew feet, stops, the entire station revolves like it is spinning in space, winds back down and takes off across the floor again. Made by WACO. A company that made very few items in the late 50's early 60's. The space jet and rocket actually dock in the side of the station and pull out for more realistic play. 50's and 60's........when toys were really toys!    Buddy

I'm a little late on this repsonse. The Franky wax figure from San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf Wax Museum is still around. The museum has undergone multiple ownerships, closures, remodels, re-openings, etc. Good ol' Franky has survived all the changes. He's been in a variety of poses and positions over the years, but it's like seeing an old friend whenever I visit.

Here's a Christmas photo I came across. I'm the dark mysterious geek type on the left. What I am holding is a Modern Toys Neptune battery op. tugboat. Took 3 D batteries. When turned on the upper deck shook, front spotlight lit up, made a chuga-chug sound and whistle, and had mystery action (bump-and-go). Gave the brother the silly bump-and-go train. Boring. Check out the retro Christmas tree. And the red velour sweaters- Christmas gifts too....unfortunately. Hey, a kid wants toys!  Just noticed the sox and shoes matched each of us too......probably a Christmas gift also.   Love,  Buddy

I see you guys went with 'live' trees.  Ahhhhhh... the splendor of the natural world. ::)

So must have been your 17 seasons with the Boston red Sox.

Close, but Dwight Evans didn't have the full curly hair and the great Rickenbacker bass! I thought I was cool back then, even at 6'7".......Buddy

I can sense you are all stunned by my hippie/disco period.......I found another Christmas photo, so we'll go there. This may look rather strange.....but then we are a different kind of family. Dad, seated, was somewhat of an exec. and a client of his sent my brother (the small goofy smile kid) and I these donut chef costumes, a game of  States and Statesmen, 2 useless helicopter launchers (in our hands), and 2 Revell spaceship model kits. I've seen the spaceships on E-bay.......very pricey! If I remember right we both were put-off by the incredible number of parts to the spaceship model kits......both reside in some Kansas City area landfill. The photo was taken to send to Dad's client with a thank you note. Don't believe he ever got it.......I KNOW he didn't get the photo. I think we considered how much thanks were appropriate after seeing how goofy we all looked........Love, Buddy

Buddy that is an awesome pic!! Reminds me of Ralphie in his bunny jammies! LOL!!! When I was that age I hated really involved models as well. I really didn't care for building cars or planes, but gravitated toward the superheroes. I remember my mom helping us build a Batplane model one time.

Buddy, Buddy, Buddy......I sometimes have trouble grasping the concept that your photos are real! Your life in photos make me smile! Your family pictures look so celebratory and exciting, I find myself wanting to be photo shopped into them! And I think you guys were ahead of your time because I hadn't heard of anyone sending Thank You pictures (with gifts shown) until the 1980s! My sister in law took pics of the gifts I sent her kids one year and I was super delighted seeing them holding up the toys I sent them. I sure hope you keep finding these little pieces of magical history and post them as soon as you find 'em!  :)

Wicked photo Buddy, glad you held on to it to share here.  Too bad the client didn't send donuts as well.  Was your participation here voluntary or commanded ?  I think I still have Dad's belt imprinted from were we didn't see eye to eye.  I love the retro look of this photo.

Also, as a fellow hippy kid, i'd like to see some more of your hippy pics.

As totally sweet as you are Char, you couldn't help but trying to get a sugar fix.   Or was it a nice juicy spider ?

if you only knew......see that car- it belonged to my parents.  2 years prior, they had parked their Chevy Belair in that same spot and I got in the car and put it in gear and rolled it on down the hill across traffic (1960s traffic, that is) and totaled it. My father still talks about it and the squeezing a parakeet to death (accidentally) incident. sigh..... But thanks for the compliment! At least someone thinks I might not have been " Damien".

Thanks for the kind works, Charlotte.
Wrecked the family car, choked the family bird to death, and lick yourself clean. A strange picture of the person you are is emerging........Buddy

Strange but true, just like the Ripley's Believe It or Not show.
