My Next Book Project...

So for my next project, I'd like to take another stab at the 50s scifi parody of monster from space....
I once did a cheesy 50s scifi movie script called "Zombies from beyond space" (was even going to film it with friends, just homebrew movie)

here is the open for the book.....

Far away in an unknown galaxy,drifting along through that sient timeless dark void was the remains of an alien cargo.
The small metallic capsule bounced of the debris of the spaceship, that carried it for so many years, and found itself,
in the path of a large chunk of a meteor.
As the two collided, the capsule fell with such furious speed.
The alien missile dropped at an enormous speed, hurdling towards Earth.
As it broke the ozone layer, the capsule erupted in a ball of flame.
The fiery capsule flew over the town of Fog Point, and crashed on the beach.
Rising from the flames and smoke, stood....."THE MONSTER FROM OUTER SPACE!"

Also, I was thinking of mentioning or using some names, like Gary Scatters(news reporter) or maybe use a name in a line, like.....

"What, was that thing?" Chip asked the Doctor.

"Some sort of unknown primate, would be my guess." replied Dr.Martin.


something like that, or also in other ways throughout the book, whatcha think?

Doc - this is GREAT!  I definitely think putting " Outer Space " in the title adds to the 50's Sci-Fi feel.  Maybe even something like THE MONSTER OF FOG POINT - via OUTER SPACE.  I would love to take a stab at doing a cover for it!

as for the monster himself, I was thinking of a cross between Frankenstein's monster + Swamp Thing with a hint of Radioactive ...

I voted for fog....but now I like the outer space idea better!  Can I change my vote?  I really like the character outlines you have so far, Doc!

Nah, the names are too common. Mr Farmer the farmer?? Lester the farmhand? Chip and Dr Dave?? Where's Mr Greenjeans?? Is this a horror novel or an episode of Mr Rogers??

that's why the names are common...plain..., but I may change the hero to Brock Peters and the love interest would be Jane Summers.
Brock's best friend, Steve Connor(of course, Steve will bite the big one,saving Brock's life.)

I voted for #2 ...for some reason I can see a long yellow title with a big red Monster going across the cover.

which might work with a date following (like)
"THE MONSTER OF FOG POINT 1957"

for me, the cheeziness of '50s Sci-Fi should
just happen naturally...
