you might be a Monster Maniac if..............

You spend time wondering if the Frankenstein Monster could be considered a zombie.
That depends............how MUCH time??

Ever since I first read the ADVANCED DUNGEONS & DRAGONS™ MONSTER MANUAL in 1979 I assumed he was a Flash Golem. But then I read a short story (in an anthology titled THE MONSTER BOOK OF MONSTERS) claiming the Frankensteins had mastered the art of zombie making, so my resolves wavered.  But there's also the old Frankenstein Jr cartoon with a robot, and that patchwork man called Steve Austin who became known as "bionic", and Fred Saberhagen's rewrite of the classic from the Monster's point of view which claims he was really an alien, and...

Arggh!  Now see what you made me do? I reread the original book!  Nowhere in there does Mary Shelly even suggest that the monster was crafted from dead human parts! For that matter, there is also no hint that lightning gave the Monster life! Guess I'm going back to Flesh Golem for now.

Oh man, the Monster Manual! Does that bring back memories. Flesh golem is a good call. I think the Monster has too much soul to be a zombie, but he's definitely similar. Hey, who would be interested in a book about Frankenstein's Monster fighting zombies created by Dr. Frankenstein's son?

Dr. Madd

I've been thinking of writing a novel in a universal-like world where Mad Scientists are actually at war with Vampires, Werewolves and Zombies and Frankenstein's monster was originally built as the ultimate vampire hunter.

OK, smart-a$$! But I know my D&D monsters -it's a flesh golem! Whatever use it's put to is between it and its maker! :o

YMBAMMI....

You wish you could vacation on Skull Island.

YMBAMM- If you look at the Monsters and wonder who has the most comfortable clothing on.  I always wonder if the Bride's frock would be super comfy to wear around town while running errands, while Son of Frankenstein's clothing looks too hot and confining.  And then there's the capes......

emulate, dress, copy, whatever............. as your favorite Monster, and not on Hallowe'en.

Come on we have all been there!

I don't know about all that mars- but I've asked my husband to take my Cineart Frankenstein's monster bust to Supercuts and ask them to cut his hair like Karloff's! Of course he just shook his head at me and walked away...........

YMBAMM if you can recite the dialogue from Plan 9 From Outer Space the way other people quote classic or modern "mainstream" movies. You also MBAMM is you like to go around talking like Tor Johnson (I'm a big boy now Johnny! in that Swedish accent)!
I am certainly guilty on both counts!
Crazy am I? We'll see if I'm crazy or not!

When I was a teenager, my friends and I stayed up til 3 am to see the infamous Plan 9 for the first time. For months afterward, we would quote the movie; "I'm a big boy now Johnny" was a favorite, as well as "I get one flashlight from patrol car". Or just about anything Criswell said -"We are all interested in the future, for that is where we are going to spend the rest of our lives!" Ah, what a crap-classic!
