While at the Chiller Theatre con from October 24-26, 2014:

Haruo Nakajima, the original Godzilla

Mr. Nakajima signing my photo

Kenpachiro Satsuma

Tsutomu Kitagawa

Victoria Price signed a photo that her half-brother, Barrett, had presigned of them with their father

a photo of the 2 of us from a previous Chiller that Sara Karloff signed

Louise Fletcher as Kai Winn from Star Trek: Deep Space 9

Not a monster, but he did co-star with the Great Pumpkin (signed to my wife, Diane), Peter Robbins, the original voice actor of Charlie Brown--I asked him to add "Good Grief" and then he signed it a second time

Not from Chiller, but Lee Meriweather as Catwoman (from a friend)

I have a great--uh--fondness, liking, fascination, etc--for Barbara Steele, and I end up getting her to sign something every time I see her at various conventions.  This year's Chiller was no exception and this is the photo I chose for her to autograph.

Also at Chiller this year--got this one of Diana Canova.  I not only liked her on SOAP, but I am sooo old that I was a fan of her MOTHER'S!  Her mom was singer/comedienne Judy Canova.

And here's a signed photo of actor/director Panchito Gomez (he was a Hector Comacho Jr's table for one day).  Panchito was in TUFF TURF and SELINA, to name a couple of his films--but carries with him a certain historic significance in that he was the first Hispanic kid on SESAME STREET--and I think perhaps he was the first kid on SESAME STREET even to be included in the rolling credits!  A very nice guy, he was a good friend of Ricardo Montalban and talked with me at length of what a great gentleman Montalban was.  I didn't expect to meet Gomez and was very pleased that I did.  Neither he nor Canova are horror/sci-fi/fantasy related, but Chiller offers an unusually wide range of celebs, so I thought I'd share 'em anyhow!

I'm thinking of getting one or more of the following autographs: Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney, Jr., Bela Lugosi, Ben Chapman, Elsa Lanchester, Glenn Strange, Fred Gwynne, Al Lewis, Yvonne DeCarlo. I've heard nothing but great things about Hurd's Outpost. I'm quite sure there are members here who have dealt with them. I would appreciate hearing from you. Also, how do they know the signatures are the real deal? What kind of proof do they provide?

Thanks,
JP

Ultimately, unless you get it in person, you can never be 100% sure.  Of course, with anyone that is deceased, that is no longer an option.  Ben Chapman did a lot of conventions and signings, so thee is really no shortage of his autograhs.  The longer the star lived, the more stuff that is out there.  Glenn Strange wasn't as well known, so his stuff is less common.

SO, you might place this in the "It can only Happen in Los Angeles" file.

I ran into the grocery store the other day to grab my lady some flowers and BARBARA STEEL walked up right behind me and was also glancing at the flowers.

I said, "Ms. Steel, never in my life, while enjoying you in films over the years, could I have ever imagined that I would be standing next to you here!" She helped my pick out some yellow roses and went on her way.

A very nice and lovely lady.

Has no one here bought from Hurd's Outpost? Within the walls of this monster community, I would imagine someone has. Again, any experiences (positive or negative) would be helpful.

When I started collecting George Pal memorabilia a few months ago, I discovered that Pal's best friends were Walter and Grace Lantz, and this has led me to a small "side collection" of Lantz stuff.  Here's a recent acquisition:

And here's another--sort of goofy, I guess, but--

Nice Walter Lantz!  Outside of the Looney Tunes, he created some of my favorite characters!

Just bumping this up. The Chiller show is drawing near, and I would love any reviews, positive or negative from anyone who has dealt with them.

I have bought from Keith Hurd in the past with confidence, although only once was it a slightly higher end piece (for my budget).  I often like to get small cardsto match up with a display of my own.  For Karloff, Lugosi, etc., you should expect some higher prices.  I usually only go to the October Chiller, but I always check out Hurd's when I go.

(I may have already chimed in on this thread, but, oh well.   lol)

Just got this awesome autograph in the mail this weekend from Rex Reason. Came upon his website during a random search and was excited he had an autograph option. There was a "Creature Walks Among US" photo too; but had to go with his most classic role. What a treasure I feel it is. Best $30 I spent in a long time!  ;)

That's a ridiculously cool collection of autograph cards, HH. Congratulations! I know it wasn't easy finding them all.
