My Cushings are all with short inscriptions--several of that "God's blessings.." which he used almost exclusively in later years.  I have several of his scripts, which are full of his handwritten notes, but no sigs in those, I think.  O.P. Heggie--I have him in a signed letter from WWI era, thanking a fan.  Thesiger I have on a crowded theatre program and in a beautiful souvenir Shaw Festival book which gave him a photo page all his own.  Of these wonders you just showed, I think I envy the Michael Mark most!  He turned up all over the place.  He's in WASP WOMAN!

Guys and gals, you've have to forgive me for going off topic here, but I received an autograph today that means a lot to me.

Burton Silverman is an artist whose work has had a profound influence on my style. He, Basil Gogos and Jeffrey Jones are my main influences. Burt has painted several Time magazine covers, paperback book covers, and did the artwork for Jethro Tull's Aqualung album. One other factor that plays into what his work means to me, is he published a book of his paintings in 1999. It was the last gift my Mom bought me before she suffered the first of several strokes.

I wrote to Burt, and requested an autograph. he graciously sent me this:

Thanks for indulging me.

Mike

Okay, here's one that is monster-related, somewhat. It is Raymond Edward Johnson, original host of radio's Inner Sanctum. These stories were pretty creepy sometimes, and Boris did a few for them.

I have the privilege of owning two of Mike's paintings...a March Hyde and a wonderful Lugosi Dracula.  Congrats on the Silverman autograph.  I remember the AQUALUNG album fondly!

Robert, I had an absolute blast painting the Hyde for you! Let's do that again sometime!

To show you just how much I liked Burt Silverman and Aqualung, I offer you this:

This is me in 1979, second year of college. My folks let me paint Aqualung on my bedroom wall! When they sold the house years later, my Dad said it took many coats of paint to cover him up. I drive by that house every once in a while, secure in the knowledge that he is still there, sleeping under all those coats of paint!
