It's time for on of the beautiful ladies of Hammer Horror, Veronica Carlson. I have met her a few times at various conventions and she is a lovely lady.

When I first glanced at the picture, I wondered why one of her boobs was so much bigger than the other.

Then I realized it was her elbow.

So often the autographs we see are of the stars of the films, and occasionally the directors. However, I like to also acquire the unsung heroes like the make-up guys or the composers of the soundtracks. Music is so important in films, and a bad soundtrack can ruin a good picture, and similarly, an amazing score can elevate a mediocre film.

Here is an autograph of one of the greats, Herman Stein. His work runs the gamut of so many of the movies we love here; This Island Earth, Tarantula, The Creature Walks Among Us, The Mole People, The Incredible Shrinking Man, and so many more. Often he was uncredited for his work.

He autographed this copy of the conductor's score for This Island Earth, the piece he composed was Metaluna Transport. I love the film and am very happy to have this in my collection.

Got two very nice original 1971 Press 8x10's autographed by Mike Bongiorno.

He even tolerated me peppering him with what must have seemed like endless questions - I posted what I learned here:  http://www.universalmonsterarmy.com/forum/index.php?topic=31576.0

Wolfman

Just ordered a Ricou Browning Creature photo from the Monster Bash website. It's the one where he's swimming underneath Kay. He signed it at this June's Bash. As an added touch, he signed it in gold. Might have to send it off to Julie Adams for her to sign as well. Don't know when she'll be doing another convention.

That would be Ricou in the picture.  Did Julie do her own swimming in the movie?

I'm pretty sure she had a double for most of the underwater shots. Especially the long lens views.

According to Julie Adams in her book and in interviews, she did some of the swimming herself.

JA: In actuality, it was all an illusion. Because I only did the swimming on the surface at Universal Studios in Hollywood, the Creature was never beneath me at the studio. That was the magic of editing. The stunning underwater photography in Florida was seamlessly cut together with the shots of me on the surface on the studio backlot, creating the effect for the audience that the Creature and I were actually in the Black Lagoon together. I'm still astonished at how well the underwater ballet with Kay and the Gill Man still captivates viewers to this day!
Then she says this ...
"Ginger Stanley doubled for me in the Wakulla Springs underwater shots, and Ricou Browning wore the rubber creature suit for swimming scenes,"

JA: I was startled the first time I saw the Gill Man fully realized. I'll never forget how believable the costume looked. I did the majority of my work in the film with Ben Chapman. Ricou primarily worked with my double, Ginger Stanley, in the underwater sequences that were shot in Wakulla Springs, Florida.

So which pictures were taken where ?  Beats me.
I am being watched, by blind people.
