Wolfman mask of Lon Chaney, Jr. Full head mask used in several early 1940's productions. Chaney had allergic reactions to some makeup so this mask was often used in long or obstructed shots. The mask is latex with minor damage on the chin area. Inside marking says "Chaney, JP, O.U.P.C. #1279." We feel that "U.P.C." is Universal Pictures Corporation and the "JP" is noted make-up artist Jack Pierce. A movie icon.

Bobby, the mask in the auction is a 70's "Vers B" Wolfman (your second pic), the 1100 Wolfman is different.

The Creature mask, no claims are made about it except that it's signed by Ricou, lol.  This one they claim is a 1940's screen used mask.  hahahaha

This is the "Topside" mask, or "Land Creature".  CreatureCrafts USA is selling this mask on eBay for $280, signed by Ben Chapman.  This one pictured below is not the Creature Crafts pull, it's a recast that Terry owns that was made in the 80's.

On top of that...  Ricou Browning didn't even wear that version of the mask.  He wore the underwater mask.

Well, that Wolf Man mask, which is worth maybe $100 in that condition, sold for $3250.

If it was a real mask that Chaney really used in parts of the movie, it's an $80,000+ piece.  It's a rotted out DP worth maybe $100.  There's no $3250 about it.   

That Gurnsey's auction is really pathetic.

Wow. How disgusting on two levels. First, that a seller would list an item as such without clearly doing his homework, and secondly, that a buyer could be taken advantage of so easily.

Bobby, do you know if anybody tried to save the poor buyer from his fool hearty purchase? Being in the UMA has it's perks and this would be one of them - being educated above being taken for a $3250.00 ride.

Terry, it was a live floor bidder at the auction site in Las Vegas.  The eBay interface was just an additional bidding option for the live event.  The Creature mask goes off later tonight.
