This just popped up on the internet.  It's pretty easy to find on a number of sites.  Universal is interested in making a new Van Helsing film with Tom Cruise as Van Helsing.

I think the first Van Helsing film was okay and the concept wasn't bad.  I'd be okay with another movie (it might be fun) but I just can't see Tom Cruise as Van Helsing at all.

Your thoughts?

Well Tom is OK in playing other type roles but I can not picture him playing Van Helsing, that's like
Keaune Reeves Playing Jekyll and Hyde. I realy only like Tom in Risky Business I am not really a Tom Cruise fan.

Man, I wish that little freak would just go away. What happened to the good old days when a cult would kidnap you and you'd never be heard from again??

Universal Steve

Hopefully this is a joke. It would be a huge joke if they went through with it. Tom Cruise? Who pitches this trash? I would love to be there in one of the creative meetings. I would be tossed out of there but at least I would have my say. What is Universals latest creation: Scott Pilgrim vs the World?  Yeah, the line is forming around the corner for that one!

I think I've got your answer here.  A quick check of the Yellow Pages for the LA area shows 35 listings for colon cleaning services.  That is right -- professional enema administrators.

Don't believe it?  http://www.yellowpages.com/los-angeles-ca/enema?g=Los+Angeles%2C+CA

All the byproducts have to go somewhere!

My guess involves the planning offices of some major studios.

He would be a more convincing Van helsing than an overhead crane operator. I have worked with many overhead crane operators in my life. Tom Cruise as an everyman?  Me thinkest not. :P

Guillermo Del Toro Confirms 'Frankenstein' Movie, Denies 'Van Helsing' Rumors

With fanboys still reeling from the news that Guillermo del Toro is developing a newer, scarier version of 'The Haunted Mansion' for Disney, the director has also confirmed that he is moving ahead with work on his rumored 'Frankenstein' flick.

In an interview with MTV, del Toro said he plans to begin early work on 'Frankenstein' in the next few weeks.

He also revealed that Doug Jones, the actor who slipped on a scaly bodysuit to play Abe Sapien in the director's 'Hellboy' movies and portrayed the Pale Man in 'Pan's Labyrinth,' is prepping to play the classic movie monster.

"Frankenstein -- in the next few weeks we are doing a very, very thorough makeup test on Doug Jones. And we're gonna film it," del Toro said.

It's unclear if del Toro will direct 'Frankenstein' as well as produce, but the Oscar nominee confirmed that he has tapped comic book artist Bernie Wrightson, who published an acclaimed illustrated version of 'Frankenstein' in the mid-'80s, to design the monster.

Del Toro's vision for 'Frankenstein' sounds like a big departure from Hollywood's last attempt to adapt Mary Shelley's classic novel, which featured 'Thor' director Kenneth Branagh behind the camera and Robert De Niro playing the monster.

The Mexican filmmaker said he wants his version to look "almost like an illustration [in] black and white. It would be done very differently than the other 'Frankenstein' movies. But it's in the future; we're doing tests in a couple weeks."

Del Toro clarified that the movie would not be shot in black and white, but "I would hope that it would resemble it," he said.

The busy genre icon also put rumors about his involvement with a new 'Van Helsing' movie to rest.

"'Van Helsing,' it was a rumor on the 'net," he said. "There is no deal in place. There was a talk about it. There was literally an informal talk about it, we had some ideas. But it's not [happening]. That's the thing-- I have a lot of projects but there are a lot more projects attributed to me than there [actually] are."
