Not universal stuff, but amok toys is kicking their ass all over the place on pricepoint and features.. how many sideshow figures came with FOUR replaceable heads like the recent NOTLD release? AND they delivered that for one quarter of the retail price of the recent sideshow releases.

Ask the guys who were buying the 12" Lord of the rings figures what they think about Sideshow NOT completing the fellowship.. and ask them what they think of a 75% price increase in the last year alone.

Sorry, but if you don't think they are milking the market, yer brainwashed.

I own all the Amok Time releases, and they aren't kicking anyone's ass at this point.  It's nice to get figures of some of these rather unique characters, but there's no butts being kicked.

You convienently picked the only figure they've produced with any real accessories, the Zombie. Yes, he has three extra heads, and cost $50.  However, you're claim that they are one quarter the cost of Sideshow would require SS's figures to be $200, which they are clearly not. You can buy the Obi-wan in clone armor for $80, and there's simply no comparison.

Amok's other figures have all been $50 and $60, with almost no (or no) accessories, and often major issues. Again, I love what Amok Time is doing, but it's not reasonable to compare them to Sideshow.

As to LOTR, I'm one of those collectors disappointed, but I don't expect Sideshow to lose money just to make me happy.  It's a business, and clearly LOTR is a dead line right now across the board. Hopefully we'll eventually get our Gimli, but I'm not silly enough to hate the company because they can't justify making it.  They don't owe me all nine figures.

Back to this Creature - I'm not buying, because I don't do the dios (figures and PF's only, thank you very much), but I prefer this land based pose to the PF swimming pose. There's something about her that isn't working for me...perhaps it's the skin tone, which looks too statue and not particularly life-like...but it's still nice to see SS providing decent Universal goodies.  Now, a 1:1 bust might break my bank account.

I'm an original monster kid and I think Sideshow rocks. I have taken exception to some of their designs however. The premium format Frankenstein (the first one) is close but no cigar. Karloff had a slight stoop, his head jutting forward. The Sideshow piece looks like an ad for a mattress company. Way too erect, if you'll pardon the expression. They also blew the color on the premium scale Dracula. This guy is supposed to be DEAD, but he has an almost rosy skin tone.
I have most of their earlier Universal stuff and it gets a thumbs up from me.

Same here.. I have most of their early products, but only have the PF creature from the last year.

Most recent figures I got from them were the 1st hellboy 12" figure, and the 12" Van Helsing figures.
