The suspect in this incident did tell police he was The Joker at the time of his arrest. He's not stupid, and he's not some nutcase who snapped overnight. This took planning and intelligence. He wore neck and groin armor! His helmet was bullet-rated. And, he can't claim "The Dark Knight Rises" made him do it-- it was the first showing! No, this person knew the anticipation for this movie was high, that the screenings would be packed, and that he'd have easy pickings. This is more akin to pure evil than insanity. It was coldly calculated, right down to the booby-trapping of his apartment.

Remember, except for the NC-17 rating, all ratings allow children entry if accompanied by a parent or guardian. The only time I ever encountered a problem was when I was 18 and took a cousin to see a double-feature of "Kentucky Fried Movie" and "The Groove Tube." It was a tiny twin cinema in Port Jefferson, Long Island, NY. Even though I was 18, they wouldn't let my 16-year-old cousin in with me. Had to take him back to the house we were staying at, and then run like hell to get back to the theater before the first film started!

Today's LA Times article talks not so much about the Film itself, but the "In-Your-face" marketing blitz of this film, ranging from bus covers, and billboards, to TV spots at least here in the movie capital of the world....which are indeed out to the hands of parental controls. We're not seeing the film until this Saturday night, in IMAX, but I've been told that like it's predecessor, DKR even more so, is a brutal movie, and allegedly, one made with the intent that people watching it would feel brutalized. being familiar with the character Bane from it's DC comic inception, I can see the brutality portrayed from within the marketing of this final film.

I have also s been hearing phrases like "Oscar-bound" and "Nomination-worthy"

Yeah, its brutal. Not terribly violent, but that's what makes it brilliant. It can make you feel brutalized without showing extreme amounts of violence.

I think it was a better made film than TDK, and after the uprorar after TDK wasn't nominated, I have little doubt, save for another voter controversy, that this film will at least get nominated for Best Picture.

I know so many people planning to see it this coming weekend. I bet it has a huge 2nd weekend, almost as big as its first. I'd planned on hitting a matinee today, but it didn't happen. Maybe Wednesday.

In the news this morning, three additional incidents at movie Theatres where film was being shown, in 3 different states. One of which is reported to have newspaper clippings in his possession, regarding the Aurora shootings.

Can't help but recall how copy cat Batman's showed up in the Dark Knight/Ledger film, and now in the manifestation of deviant and criminal behaviors.

Yes, I am sure there will be a hold over box office on this, but now I am having thoughts of an exit strategy for my wife when we see this on Saturday night....I'd say now that yes, Box office has been affected by this, but more so, the public movie-going psyche, not to mention those in Colorado.

Guess I'm lucky to live in a small city.  Saw the movie yesterday at the local mall, no incident to report, except i loved the film.

Yup, same here.

Though a friend of my aunt's said someone stood up in their theater and said everyone freeze. Guy sitting next to him was an armed cop :P That prank ended quickly.

The poor guy!  Now it may be a long time before he can shout "This is a high-jacking" aboard a plane flight, and hilarity ensues. :P

It should've ended with a stun-gun to the crotch.
Yeah, a friend of mine in Indiana that's a cop took his family, and his duty weapon. Just the legacy Bob Kane would be abhorred by in creating a hero that doesn't use a gun.

Just saw the weather report for Wednesday, and it's supposed to be nasty and hot. Guess I won't hit a matinee that day. Maybe Thursday.
