Oddly enough, the first thing ever shown on Sci-Fi Channel was the original "Star Wars." This was before the Special Editions, so it was the original, theatrical cut. An old college buddy of mine worked there at the time, and he remembers the moment they "threw the switch" and went live. He later went on to help launch SFC's original in-house movies, and was co-producer on such films as "Frankenfish," "Snakehead Terror," and "Mansquito." He left not long after the first "Sharknado" aired, as he felt Syfy was no longer in touch with what he felt was their core audience.
