I agree, Count. I think this is clearly on purpose. The studios are pretty risk averse and once they find something that works they don't want to stray too far from it. These designs look like what kids and families are used to seeing in other family movies they like. You could call it the Pixar look. It doesn't always work, however. "Mars Needs Moms" was one of the biggest financial disasters of last year.
