That is fantastic stuff, Ranier!

I just finished an experiment. This was created with Prismacolor markers, colored pencils and oil pastels!

I only wish I could display it here the way all fine art should be displayed...from at least 4 feet away!

They're 30 cm x 40cm or smaller - I'm more of a miniature artist :-\

    Frank:
Was Mr. Hyde done on something like canvas paper? You know, just thinking about your using pastels brings back the memory to me of the unique smell that they have.

Thanks for the kind words dear friends! They're really appreciated!

Frank: Cool stuff! Hyde is beautiful.
When I worked with oil pastels back in artschool,
I achieved nice oilpainting effects by using terpentuine to blend the colors into each other.

It was just Dark Gray Strathmore pastel paper, and yes, I love that smell!

Back to pencils this afternoon...

Frank: Have you ever tried Watercolor Pencils? I haven't but I've seen work done by others with these and you can blend the colors with a lightly dampened paintbrush or sponge after you've put them down on paper in color pencil form.
I can no longer use oil based paints since I have a nasty reaction to them--nosebleeds, headaches, breathing problems--my reward for too many years of painting signs and working with solvents. Even touching certain inks used in printing causes a reaction---handling the Sioux City Journal at work used to give me hives until they switched to a soy bean based ink.

I still have a ton of unpacking to do, so what I have is very limited. With the exception of a few pieces that I can actually put my hands out as well as my sketchbook and my visual journal, most of the cool stuff is packed away so it wouldn't get damaged. At the rate I'm going, hopefully by springtime, I can get it out once again.  Here is an eclectic mix of items, some actual artworks and others just quickie drawings in my sketchbook and explorations in my visual journal. One of my biggest gripes is that I can go for long stetches without working because of work! Bah! I long for a good blizzard that shuts down work for a few days so I can draw. :)

I created this entry in my visual journal when I had to monitor detention duty. It is the most boring duty on the face of the planet. Bela's expression pretty much sums up my feeling about serving it.  It's only an hour duty, but I think you can sense my anxiety in getting the duty over with in the entry.

I can't recall, but I remember hearing "Im Ho Tep's Ashes" from somewhere and pulled out my Prismacolors and started working away. It has nothing to do with Karloff. I was just creating my own mummy-like monster for a 15 minute sketchbook entry.

I always do wild and wacky collage for my sketchbook or visual journal covers. Mostly all of them have a tip of the hat to the Universal Monsters and my dude, Claude.

I located my actual painting of Svenclaudie. :)  No camera reproduces this painting as well as I would like to have it reproduce.  Color copies at Staples still rock!

This is cut film. You work from negative to create the positive. Lots of X-Acto knife action going on here. What's really cool about doing these is making transparencies of them and then using acrylics to paint them. Warhol monsters, anyone?

A fellow art teacher and myself were  on a Smashing Pumpkins kick and this was my contribution to our Billy Corgan experience.

The Drunken Severed Head

This thread is SO rewarding! Great to see so many share their art. Love the horror stars pictures, Claudin.

That Hunchback, Frank, really is impressive!

Nightmares in plastic: You are VERY talented. Forgive my ignorance, but who is the blonde man in the red shirt?

Thank you very much! Never mind,Drunken Severed Head: The blonde guy is Jörg Buttgereit,
German Filmmaker and director of the notorious movie "NECROMANTIC".
This was used as a DVD cover of his s-8 shorts.

I had about 50 minutes inbetween teaching classes, so I just started drawing and decided to go with the flow. Seeing all the great artwork here made me think monsters. So I started sketching a Frankenstein monster off the cuff. I call this my "50 Minute Frankenstein". After it was finished, I scanned and put the image in Photoshop and just added some really simple coloring effects to it.   I like doing quick drawings like this to keep me fingers nimble. lol

Very cool, JoAnna. And what better way to spend your free time, right?

We were recently discussing THE GHOST OF FRANKENSTEIN on my little "Boris, Bela & Lon Jr." Yahoo Group, so I decided to have a little fun with Lon Jr., and created this tribute...

When I was Oothmah, I ran a contest and the winners received a painting, based on whichever monster/monster-related subject they chose. Here are two of the winners. I had a crappy camera at that time, and the lighting is very bad on these, but these photos are all I have of them:
