He was responsible for some of the most remembered classics to come out of RKO during W.W.II..the nine films he contributed to horror still stand the test of time for maintaining suspense and noirish atmosphere.
His final three films of this type put Boris Karloff back on the public radar after Universal featured him in THE CLIMAX and HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN.

I like alot of those movies, but one, I just watched recently on TCM and really loved it, was The Leopard Man.

Hard to chose, but I went with Body Snatchers.  Almost went with Cat People.  So many great choices here.

I was bidding on a Curse of the Cat People poster this week, but it predictably went up out of my reach.  I like that movie a lot and I'm going to get that poster one of these days.

Yup, and I was bidding accordingly, but still hoping the poor economy would be my friend.  Ah well.

The Sventh Victim--a very unusual film for its time.

It's interesting that Lewton's movies have come up as a topic.  I have the set and had only watched THE BODY SNATCHER and BEDLAM previously.  So, about a week and a half ago, I watched the rest of the films, nearly one after another.

BEDLAM is probably my favorite of all of Lewton's movies.  Great villainy in it.

THE BODY SNATCHER isn't particularly scary, but I'd say it's more gruesome.

I liked CAT PEOPLE, although I had to get past the idea that you never actually see a monster or transformed Simone Simon.  Still, great atmosphere.  I really liked THE CURSE OF THE CAT PEOPLE, although it did seem strange that the only thing that it really had to do with the original was characters.
I also thought 7TH VICTIM was a bold film to make  for that time period.

THE GHOST SHIP reminded me somewhat of THE CAINE MUTINY and where were the ghosts?  lol

I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE is perhaps the one that is the closest to a horror movie.

I didn't particularly care for ISLE OF THE DEAD despite Karloff.  Boris did well, but I really didn't like the character.  He didn't have enough malice in him to be a true villain.  It did get more interesting at the end though.

THE LEOPARD MAN, although again not a horror movie per se, was very good.  The scene where the young woman is killed at the door to her home and the blood trickles under the door was nicely done.

The use of the singer Sir Lancelot in 3 of the films was interesting.  He must have been a favorite of Lewton's.

The Creeper

Though I haven't seen all of these movies I have seen a lot and my favorite would have to be The Body Snatcher.
Long live the UMA!
