I guess every decade you need to up it another decade.

Its been about the same time between the 60s merch boom and the release of the Sideshow figures as its been from the merch surge of 1991 until now.

I always considered vintage as something pre-1980 for some reason.
I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity...

Pre 1980 has always and still is considered the "vintage era" of monster toys.   Not because of the time passed so much as how they were still relevant to kids.

Pretty much all collectors seem to feel that way.  80s being the cutoff for true "vintage" toys.     Some 90s stuff sneaks in like TMNT.

I've kind of viewed the original Sideshow line as the beginning of the "new" era.  Before that, all the monster stuff looked like toy approximations of the monsters.  After that, the sculpt began to look more like what we saw on the screen.

Wooden toys are vintage. Plastic toys are modern.  :P

The early 90s were the last attempt to appeal to kids.   The last era of "fun" stuff.   Meant to be used and thrown away.    Some of it pretty scarce now.      The Sideshows started the "collectibles" era more geared towards adults.

Mutated Skeleton

4 inch tall hairy monster mask, no idea the date on this one but guessing 80's.

BBI Toys International Ltd. Frankenstein Monster Coin Bank, 1986.
Been after this one for awhile, never thought I'd track one down in its original box and in such good condition.

It is rubber and the back is flat with a slot for the coins.  Used to be quite common on eBay.  It is scarcer today and is being sold at much higher prices.

Something that I wish was easier to find are those old comic book spinner displays. Those things go for a lot of money these days, which is weird to think of. Used to be you'd collect the comics thinking they'd be worth money someday. Turns out those clunky display stands at all of those old drugstores are worth a lot of money, haha.
