Was not expecting this.
As many of you know, Universal's first ever sound horror film "The Cat Creeps" was a remake of the silent film "The Cat and the Canary", which has always survived. Still this is very exciting. Worth noting that, just like Dracula, there is a still lost Spanish cast version of the film, as well.

Cool! I was hoping for the full film, but a recreation with stills and some footage is better than nothing.  :)

Well, I wish they'd post what they have so far on youtube
so we can see it. The Gorilla (1927) was re-discovered
as well but I can't find that anywhere either.

They say in the video that they're restoring it, and around the end of next year it should be available.

They don't say how much footage they have, but it sounds likr they are going to replace what's missing with stills. Kind of like what they did with "Lost Horizons", though I'll bet they don't have a "complete" (but edited) movie to start with, as they did with LH.

The discovered footage is about 7 or 8 minutes, plus there is the footage that previously appears in the BOO! short from Universal..
DARK SHADOWS:

David Collins: "Dead people dont just get up and walk around.."

Sarah Collins: "Sometimes they do."

So, it's gonna be closer to the LAM recreation than the "Lost Horizon" recreation. But something is better than nothing! Wish we had 8+ min. of LAM!

Oh, dang. I was hoping it was more than that. I got too excited, I guess.
