Atlantis Prehistoric Scenes Saber Tooth Tiger Kit

I have wanted this kit for some time and Atlantis has made a repop of the Aurora kit. I was excited to open the box and get started. However, on the tiger's chest area there is a hole which is present on both halves. Pretty sure that the original Aurora kit did not have this. I am baffled to know why this hole is there. Anyone else who has this kit know the reason for this. Guess I will just have to fill & putty this.

It's been MANY moons ago, but I think my saber tooth tiger kit did boast the same hole.
