Some do, though, but there's no way to tell, because they all just say Region "B". So, what's the difference?

I can't even buy a Region "B" player. They're all just A, or All. Can't even sell these. Who'd want them?

Sorry to hear that..I know they werent cheap...the best bet is to go for the region-free discs as they seem to work on any player.
DARK SHADOWS:

David Collins: "Dead people dont just get up and walk around.."

Sarah Collins: "Sometimes they do."

Lunkenstein

That sucks. You'd think a region free player would handle them. Sorry to hear that.

Tech matches up weird sometimes. Maybe you could sell the ones that won't play on eBay to Region B customers. It would mean selling internationally but it would allow you to recoup most or all of your money.

I don't think I'll buy any RB discs in the future, though I have several that work fine. Some I bought because the RA ones were 2-3 times the price. Four of these are Eureka, so I won't be buying any more of those. The Baskervilles '59 RB has a ton of extras, but the RA alternative looks extraless. Cheap, though.

Hooray! I fixed it!

I asked online and somebody told me how to fix it and now it works!  :)  :)  :)  :)

That's great!

I just stick to Region A or Region Free discs like Memph mentioned earlier. It might be somewhat limiting but I like the old adage "simple is best".

Did it involve pressing the right buttons - and in the correct order?

Mainly at the right time. Open tray, load disc, press blue button, close tray. On my old BD player, you press the region  buton before you even turn on the player.

Same here.

My old all-region BLU-Ray required removing the disc, turning off the player and THEN switching regions.

My new 4K/all region BLU-Ray player requires the tray be open (meaning the player is still on) to switch regions.

Funny, they are both Sony players.  (I discovered the difference by first failing, then reading the instructions.)

Why did they change it? Just to mess with us?  ;D

No.  If you think about it, it is an improvement.

Before, if you inserted an off-region disc and got a "not compatible" message, you had to remove the disc and turn off the player before you could switch.

Now, you just open the tray and make the switch.  Fewer steps.

Took advantage of Amazons 3 for $33 4k sale.

The Terminator
Duel
Last Night in Soho
2001: A Space Odyssey
Jaws
Doctor Sleep

Doctor Sleep, Last Night in Soho, and Duel are all movies I haven't seen.  2001 and Jaws are upgrades from old DVDs that I hadn't gotten around to upgrading, and for some reason I only seem to have a copy of Terminator Salvation, which I've never watched and don't remember buying, and we certainly can't have that.

Ordered the whole Tigon collection (except "Hannie Caulder") from 88 Films. Not sure why they didn't have "The Creeping Flesh"?
