It includes the blu ray copy. That being said, I just watched it and the print is so clear, you would never know that the film was made 105(!)years ago.

Do you have a 4k player? My tv is 4k, but I only have a blu-ray player. I definitely need to add an HD Caligari to my library. I only have a cheap dvd.

No, I dont have a 4K player, but the Caligari on regular blu ray looks gorgeous.

So, you can play a 4K disc on a Blu-ray player?

No, but the 4k Caligari is a two disc set..the second disc is a regular blu ray.

I have a couple of 4k discs too from the combo packs which I bought for the Blu-rays (in the Severin box sets). I don't plan to upgrade past Blu-ray. I'm most interested in older films and shows so I don't see the point in going past BDs which make them look about the best they can. In many cases I only went past DVDs to Blu-rays for the special features anyway. TV shows and older movies are fine on good DVDs for the most part. I don't need to see every flaw in the effects to enjoy the film.

Sony has a good 4K player that offers all-region BLU-Ray, DVD capability.  I'm going to get one with some of my tax refund money.

I am accumulating quite a few 4Ks with BLU-Ray purchases.  When the 4K is on sale for just a couple bucks more than a BLU alone, I take the plunge.  Mainly because they often are newer scans of the original material with even more extra features - new commentaries, etc.

What the hell.  Either I spend it or someone else blows it after I am gone.

Since I'm finished with the Hammer BD (till something else comes out), I thought I'd start on Amicus. These came today.

Lunkenstein

I was long overdue to upgrade my favorite sci-fi movie. What a great release this was! Love the clarity, the bonus material, the isolated score and playing the Gort game.

Hey guys, I watched The Curse of the Werewolf on my Hamner/Universal Blu-ray set last night and felt there wasn't much difference between this and the standard DVD version from the old set. Does anyone have the Shout Factory release? I'm thinking about getting it to see if it's more dazzling. I see there are some bonus features on that release too. Thanks in advance!

The Shout Factory blu-ray has a more recent release date, so I went ahead and ordered it. By reviews, the print should be a bit better and will enjoy the extras.

Worth it for the extras alone..

I am a big fan of extras.

Can't think of the titles right now, but there are some independent horrors so bad that the best part of the presentation is the commentary and the features about the public's original acceptance.

The cinematographer's extra about building sets for "Matinee" is great.  Imagine renting the lumber to build sets because the Florida Universal Park is not really a working studio.  (Making movies is sometimes nuts.)
