Not exactly a new release announcement but still very good news on that front: https://bleedingcool.com/movies/hammer-films-buys-silver-salt-restoration-to-remaster-horror-movies/

Hammer Films owners buys Silver Salt Restoration, plans to start to remaster their own film library.

Silver Salt has been the ones responcible for multiple releases from UK boutique labels such as Arrow (Bruce Lee, Flash Gordon, Pitch Black), Eureka (Police Story), and StudioCanal (The Wicker Man, Dr. Who).

Safe to say, we gonna be eating good soon.

Imprint just released the 1st in a new series of box sets of '70s TV movies. This first set are all genre movies. I hope they stick with that formula.

Severin Films is rereleasing the four Blood Island films on a 2-disc Blu-ray set. The special features are the same as the Blood Island Collection Box Set from 2018.

Fear in the Philippines: The Complete Blood Island Films [2-Disc Blu-r – Severin Films

I have the box set so I'll pass on this, but it makes me want to rewatch the flicks and special features.

I'm all in for the Blood Island set.

I missed out on the initial boxed set of 4 films, but earlier this year I got Brides Of Blood, Mad Doctor Of Blood Island and Beast Of Blood FREE as a reward for the Tales Of Blood Island comic book Kickstarter campaign.  I wondered at the time if Severin was planning on re-release the films, perhaps in the correct theatrical widescreen aspect ratio.  Well, here they've re-released them, and it's a bit of a mixed bag.  The GREAT news - Beast Of Blood has been upgraded from a 16mm print to a 35mm print.  Beast Of Blood is my favorite film in the series, so it's great to have it looking much improved.  but, sadly, yet again, the films aren't in widescreen!

I'm wondering if down the road they'll re-release them again in 4k, and if they do, hopefully then they'll all be widescreen.

I've been a big fan of the Blood Island movies since the mid '70s when I saw Brides of Blood and Mad Doctor of Blood Island on our local Chattanooga Shock Theater program uncut (w/Dr. Shock & Dingbat). Those showed several times and each time they cut out a little more nudity. I guess they got some pressure from local church groups, but they kept showing them.

In 2002 I was very happy to find the Blood Island Vacation DVD Box Set at Best Buy. Brain of Blood was disappointing, but it only pretended to be a Blood Island flick (Al Adamson mess, still fun in its own way).

In 2010 I bought the Alpha versions again even though they were only reprinting the Image versions. I still have all of those along with the excellent Blood Island Collection Blu-ray Box Set from Severin, and I'll probably pick up the new Severin repop set at some point. The curse/joy of being a collector. I just wish Waldemar Daninsky had found his way to Blood Island in 1971 (before the Chlorophyll Monster was beheaded) so we could see El Hombre Lobo and Don Ramon rip each other apart across the island. The Plata Films/Hemisphere Pictures coproduction would have been epic drive-in trash!
