Monsters For Sale

Do we have any members living in Florida?  If so, has anyone heard from them about how they are doing?

If you are a Florida member, please let us know how you are whenever you have power restored.

Stay safe and healthy.

Also, did the Orlando Universal Studios Park sustain any major damage?  Will their annual Horror Nights go on as scheduled - and will local hotels rooms be available at all?  I imagine they will be full of locals who need somewhere to stay while flooded homes are being dried out and repaired.

I'm still fretting about what Hurricane Fiona did to New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Cape Breton Island and Newfoundland just a few days ago.

I'm pretty sure Scatter lives in Florida but don't know his location. He has been among the missing around here for awhile but I hope he and his family are okay.

I believe Monster Bob lives in the Florida Keys but he's only been coming around sporadically for the last three years or so.

Hey Hep.  I think Monster Bob might live in Illinois.

I believe Monster Bob was born and raised in Illinois. He's now listing his location as Belize but I thought he'd been spending a lot of time in Florida since 2010 or so.

His IP address puts him in the Chicago area.

Speaking of Scatter and Florida, his words about the place are worth revisiting:

Quote from: Scatter on September 02, 2009, 12:31:42 PMNot the heat per se, but the incessant duration of the heat. I like heat. And I like apples. But if I had to eat apples all day and all night for 11 months out of the year, I'd wanna puke.

My favorite time of the year is at hand........Autumn. Except there IS no Autumn here. There's only Blast Furnace Hot Hurricane Dodging Season.

I love winter too. Except there's no winter here. There's only Blue Hair Dodging Season, as the roads and stores and restaurants fill with former extras from the TV series "The Golden Girls".

I adore Spring. It lasts 6 minutes here. I missed it during a nap this year.

I was raised in the wooded hills and mountains of Connecticut. There are no actual woods here. Only swamps on the inland, populated by refugees from the set of "Deliverance". And the state has no hills or mountains. I believe the highest point of the entire state is atop Donald 's heavily lacquered comb-over.

Florida has its bikini-clad good points to be sure, but they don't outweigh the weather, terrain, hurricanes, lightning, blue-haired drivers, and low wages.

Except for that, I love it here.

Quote from: Scatter on June 24, 2010, 07:22:41 PMWould you like it alphabetized, or in order of distaste?

I hate the weather.

I hate that there's no winter.

I hate that there's no spring.

I hate that there's no fall.

I hate that you can't have a basement.

I hate that attic space is unusable.

I hate the weather.

I hate flat terrain.

I hate the beach.

I hate the deplorable public school system.

I hate driving with blue-haired old ladies who can't see over the steering wheel.

I hate hurricanes threatening for a solid 5 months a year.

I hate 99% humidity which makes me sweat through a shirt every 30 seconds.

I hate the weather.

I hate the Dolphins, the Marlins, the Panthers and the Buccaneers.

I hate swamps instead of beautiful forests.

I hate the lack of a functional mass transit system.

I hate the weather.

I hate bugs larger than my hands.

I hate that 5 minutes from my golf course community it looks like the set of "Deliverance" complete with bigoted rednecks.

I hate panhandlers on every street corner, who apparently love the weather.

I hate living in one of the highest crime rates in the country.

I hate Jimmy Buffet.

I hate the weather.

Now, to be fair, there are many good things about living in Florida too. But it's just not for me.  I won't be here forever though, God willing. And, I'm actually an extremely happy person, but the Florida thing has become such an in-joke now that I enjoy playing it up!!

;D
