The big bells toll for our final Quasi-classic this month, one of the best surprises in DP's
fabulous 1982 catalog >

They were thinly cast at $52 retail but worth it for a wearable likeness of
Quasimodo from RKO's 1939 movie masterpiece >

Presumed to be in public domain, production continued through 1982 and beyond.

There were modifications in finishing work along the way: the hair fibre changed to
a coarser texture and some had heavier beard stubble painted on >

Although catalogued in 1983, it didn't finish out the year.

The story goes that production was ordered ceased by whatever entity still held
a copyright on the character. 'No wonder he looks so sullen >

Luckily I was able to score a copy early on and later had it custom refinished. My painter
even added a glass eye and "milked" it for full effect >

Here's your last chance this month to reply with pics of more Quasimodo masks.
While you're at it, wish Don Post a Happy Birthday in case he looks in on this thread.

Great find, Dr. Terror! I was a huge fan of Police Squad! back in the day.

Sir, that's a great copy. I have no Quasimodos (or even Reallymodos) but yours is terrific!

They really just assumed it was public domain. It was a sound film and everything.
