Aw, it's not that bad.  I like it a lot more than "Monster On the Campus".

I have the DVD and the most recent image and sound for this film are really spectacular.  When I used to see it on TV, the picture was lousy.

I'm getting the basic BLU-Ray for what will probably be only a marginally better image and Tom Weaver's commentary.  I never want all the extra garbage.  I toss out carboard sleeves first thing.

I find the extras interesting to great, but usually only watch it once.

Because some of the major studios could care less about doing many of the classics justice, unlike smaller labels, that will go the extra mile with new prints, commentaries etc. Look at some of the classics that should have got treatment but got the bare bones shift instead, such as THEM!, THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD, SON OF FRANKENSTEIN, FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLF MAN, SON OF DRACULA, FORBIDDEN PLANET,
WEREWOLF OF LONDON, HORROR OF DRACULA, CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, THE MUMMY(59), HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN/DRACULA..and more I"m sure that I've forgot. If it werent for labels like SHOUT and KINO we wouldnt have even got films like THE BLACK CAT, THE RAVEN, MURDERS IN THE ZOO or MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE with the special treatment since it looks like Universal sure wasnt up for the task.

However, I spoke too soon when it comes to this one: Coming in December, from Warner Archive...

With commentary, two version aspects, making of features, trailers and a few other goodies.

Long overdue, hopefully worth the wait!

They're the only ones that the major studios will let others release.  They want to keep their blockbuster hits to themselves (or want w-a-a-y too much for a licensing fee) And the biggies are just too cheap to put any extra money into new releases, themselves.

That, and many of the movies were put out by independent producers who never had the money to make a very slick film in the first place.

That's my guess.

Cannot wait for this release. I never cared for the DVD transfer.

From Kino Lorber Insider:

"We have some good and bad news.

We had announce the two Santo films a few months ago, but due to some unforeseen issues the deal is cancelled. Hopefully someone else will release the restored Santo films in 2021.

We just signed a 65 title deal with Universal and plan to add another 50-60 titles in June or July of 2021. The 65 titles include two TV shows, four 4KUHD releases, one Scorpion/KL co-release and four Code Red/KL co-release."

No word of titles yet, but rumor is that 23 of the films are from the 1930's.  Keep your fingers crossed.
