Sadly, our friend and fellow poster, Freddie Poe, had to help his and Jaymie's beloved dog Booboo over the Rainbow Bridge yesterday.  Booboo had been fighting heart issues and other problems for the past few years and was a champ until the end.

Here is Booboo on his last birthday, just after enjoying turkey bacon with Freddie.

I'm having problems with my computer but will upload some more pictures later today.

Sending sincere condolences to Freddie and Jaymie. :(

The loss of a beloved pet can be as tough as losing a family member. They, also, are an integral part of most families. My condolences to Freddie and Jaymie over the loss of such a beautiful friend. R.I.P., Booboo.

Oh man, very sad. It's never easy saying goodbye to a faithful and much loved companion.

Freddie was expecting to have to say "Good-bye" to Booboo for almost a year now and was blessed with some extra time.

Very true. Non-pet owners can find this difficult to understand. First of all there's this incredible feeling of not just loss but emptiness when a beloved companion is gone.

What makes it all worse though is the feelings of guilt. This little animal loved you with all his strength. He regarded you as his god and thus trusted you implicitly. Yet in the end in his hour of most urgent need you couldn't save him. With all your intelligence, money, power, whatever, you were impotent and could do diddly squat. Despite his trust you failed him.

So of course you wonder whether you could have done more, anything else to save him. And conversely you also wonder whether you should have ended his suffering and pulled the plug sooner. Even if you know that you made the very best decisions for your pet in light of the info you had available, those feelings are still there. Illogical though they are, those feelings exist.

The loss, the emptiness, the guilt, what Freddie feels right now must be just awful.

So true, Hep. Often, pets will suffer in silence without us ever knowing. The best we can do is cherish our time with them, and treat them as kindly as possible.

I'm so very sorry for Freddie and Jaymie's loss. Our fur babies are indeed beloved family members. It hurts as much as losing a person.
